The Android market is awful imo. When Angry Birds came out I tried finding out if it would run on my G1. There is no definitive answer and certainly not in the market where you would expect it. So I decided to try downloading anyway. Nothing said I couldn't run it in fact it just didn't download and gave an error implying it's a network issue and to try again. That happened on wifi too and if I tried to download apps I knew I could run there was zero problems.
Google sucks at customer support so naturally their error messages are abysmal.
There may be some truth to that but the real reason is if you phone will do all the new stuff you won't buy a new phone as soon so even before this whole MS thing reared its head Android phones weren't updated for long or if at all.
I think you'll find you're wrong. Most people aren't going to be loading in other markets or rooting their phone. They're doing to use it how they've learned to use it from the guy at the shop or from the manual and that's it. Younger and more tech savy people will have less money which means they won't go to amazon, they'll steal it.
There is some truth to that but they are right in that very few people start off programming Cobol but there are a ton of idiots learning Java, PHP, Ruby, etc. So if everything was equal in terms of developers and we started from scratch the Cobol programmers will probably be better because they're more serious about programming. You'd have to be to learn a language that is nearly dead.
You say that but I'm sure that annoying ads like the "punch the monkey" got tons of clicks and that's why it was around for ages.
As long as ads don't flash or show some fatty's gut, yellow teeth or grandma peeling shit off her face I don't mind them. Sites that are very US centric seem to have the worst ads. So someone has determined at least that Americans click on that shit somewhere.
If you're saying it looks bad against the DS then well every single system that has ever existed looks bad in comparison to the DS seeing how it's sold the most units ever for any gaming system. The only people that are upset by the 3DS are douche bag investors who thought it should have instantly killed the DS and became the best system ever within 3 months of launching.
Wow another homo who thinks that something being open source means it's perfect because obviously there are millions of people checking the code at any given minute. Open source is an exceptionally good thing but open source != safety. Perhaps it can mean that things will get fixed sooner than closed source but knowing something will be fixed in two days rather than 2 months is no good to someone who, for example, loses their CC details due to a security flaw.
The problem is more that it doesn't tell you what it does or allow you to get rid of it and even if they're telling the truth it's a built in keylogger that someone else could use to make it easier to get your data. That and if they don't need to know what your typing then why log unique numbers for each key. Why not just log something like "key pressed" rather than what is effectively saying "B key pressed"?
It wasn't Android's openness that helped discover it otherwise it wouldn't have been found on the closed platforms and it's not like it was found straight away.
That's one big problem with the Android platform. It's open source so a lot of people think it's safe because there's obviously millions of people sifting through the code. Google's released code in no way tells you what is actually on the phone and people's trust in it being open source is just a false sense of security.
It's a job where you're expected to keep learning new things, you work for managers who don't have the slightest clue about your job because they're a career manager, you often can't do anything fun and instead glue together frameworks, they try to pay you as little as possible and then send your job overseas.
Obviously all of that doesn't apply to every job but at least some of it applies to a lot of jobs. Where is the fun in that? I consider myself lucky in that I have a pretty awesome development job but I've worked for larger companies and it's often no fun at all. If the jobs could be fun or you'd at least be treated as something better than a keyboard monkey pounding out Java and.Net then maybe kids would be interested.
They need to pay better money to get better teachers who can teach kids how awesome programming can be.
As someone who has like 500 DVDs I understand the idea of ripping all of it is not something you want to look forward too but rip it all. It'll make it much easier to use your media anywhere and ensure you get to keep it and use it longer.
I know Gmail and search surely won't go away but aside form those can you *really* trust they'll support the product? They either need to show more willingness to keep at it or don't release shit to the public that's not ready.
Is this your first day on the internet?
Never because I have no use for it.

True but that is also why Android apps are generally shittier than iPhone apps because actually ad revenue isn't that awesome for anyone but Google.

They probably should have named it better. PHP is a fucking mess.

It certainly wasn't doing that bad especially given the lack of software and the price.

More likely he's grown tired of managing big ass teams and wants to be a game developer rather than a manager.
Everyone rather have their site cheap and straight away rather than secure. It's no surprise lots of sites are insecure.

Yeah because that is a real option for so many people. I just saw some middle aged women arguing over whose rom image pwnz the most.
downs baby

Yeah because most users can or will do that.

You've been doing stuff so you have code to show off and you should do just that. That will make a huge difference whether you have a degree or not.

After all they built windows to crash on purpose for DR DOS
Javascript hasn't really been improved and afaik dropped useful stuff to get everyone to agree on it.
