    yeah, sometimes I forget which password I reused, or whether I made a unique password for that system. fortunately I haven't run into draconian treatment thereof yet.

    Citizens brings up additional verification questions when their online banking system doesn't recognize the computer you're logging in from (by IP, MAC or whatever, I'm not sure).
    If it's a computer you intend to use again, you can have the system skip that step for that computer in the future.

    Chase doesn't do this.

    so it isn't quite as obvious to guess, I make my answer to the security question a clue to what the literal answer would be, rather than putting in the literal answer itself.
    For example, "what's your favorite number" might be answered as "Douglas Adams" rather than "42".

    remembering what you used but forgetting how you phrased it sucks too.

    I've heard "it's a warning, not a manual" before, about 1984, but it works here too.

    As for seeing BNW positively, I've even done that sometimes.

    Some people don't understand that there's too much of a good thing.

    The BNW world first tried a society of all Alphas, but it didn't work (the intelligentsia not tolerating menial labor? been there done that.)

    I long since saw BNW as excellent sci-fi: not only well-written tehcnology but also a well-written discussion of its effects upon society.

    I also noticed a dig at the consumerism, since a desire for overly complicated games was one thing pushed via the social indoctrination

    I have wondered if the Bills making prudent draft picks for once was a sign of the apocalypse. (failed draft picks have not helped the team's suckitude the past few years. I can see why they went for building up their defense this time - Fitzpatrick is a decent QB and his offense at least a few times put up a lot of points only to see the defense allow even more points.)

    That reminds me of this: I was arguing of profiling on grounds of practicality, political correctness be darned, and the debate partner responded with something like "Osama would then just find someone who didn't look Middle Eastern."

    (I had phrased my argument something like 'Yes, many Arabs aren't terrorists, but many America-hating terrorists are Arabs')

    I was off the 'net for a few days after moving (didn't fully take the http://xkcd.com/466/ route). I did have access at work, but I believe in getting a fair amount of work done at work. :P Also, there are certain things that don't belong in a work environment, whether or not the IT policy specifically forbids them.

    My experience with SAP is that some of my classes tried to introduce us to it from a user/manager perspective, so I don't know about the technical backend, but I agree about the epically shitty UI.

    even if one's main supply is streaming it off the Internet (YouPorn et al), IMHO it makes sense to save a bit of it locally anyway (maybe your favorites amongst the stuff you find when combing the streaming sites and such)
