OSS does do that to from time to time. Though most of it is programmed for one task and it does just that task. Thus you can rely on other programs to fill in the gaps. An exception would be something like openoffice which goes to trying to disrupt Microsoft's market share.
No the point though. This is something that you have to pay a lot for. Sure everyone could use a phone. I bet though that you are only going to use maybe one or two of the other features. Where you could cut out some of the features that not a lot of people are going to use and save the consumer some money.
It blows my mind that they throw all of this stuff in there. Yet again a company packages bloatware and throws it out into the market so many people can buy it for many reasons. It is me or are these phones becoming the new "Microsoft-ish" bloatware repositories?
To go back to my first post to make my point a little bit more clear. I think that Tolkien most likely would roll in his grave if any of his main work would be performed as a musical. I refrance the quote from one of your links "He had heard it differently in his mind, he said, and hummed a Gregorian chant."[Music in Middle Earth] I can see a collection of the songs but nothing that could be thrown together with enough of a plot to be called a musical. Just a collection of songs that would not be concidered mainstream. I would like to hear them perfomed though.
Alright I admit that I posted it without a preview and I stated "awe crap".
I think that my displeasure about this is due to the fact that though I have seen a few musicals I have never seen one done right. To top that I hold all of Tolkien's works in very high regard. I don't see them doing the languages that tolkien created. If they did I think that only the hardcore Tolkien fans would be there.
If they are going to do a musical it should be something that is more focused. Such titles might be: Songs from the Men of Middle Earth Bilbo's Last Song Hark! I hear the halls of Dwarves Happy birthday Bilbo, Songs from the Shire
I feel that J.R.R. Tolkien is not rolling in his grave over this. It seems to go against what he or his family would have wanted to have done with his works. I thank Christopher Tolkien for editing a lot of his fathers works so that we can all learn more. Are there that many money problems in this family? I would have thought that Peter Jackson helped them out a bit.
Though I wouldn't mind hearing an opera in Ent that is about the Entwives.
I haven't read too much up on this. Regardless the air about it gives me some paranoia. I mean no offense but you have to wonder if there is some sort of Microsoft backing behind these statements.
It is in essance a great thing that there is a school for hacking where you can pay to learn. The problem is that this might cause more problems for computer users because in so many circles the word "Hacker" is such a touchy subject already. Isn't it possible that creating a school is going to increase already tightening regulations?
I guess that the Linux user inside of me stepped aside when I saw this posting. The Mac user stepped forward and read, then curled over when it saw that there was mention of Windows along with Quicktime and no mention of Macintosh. Not trying to be critical but props should have been given to where the technology was born. I remember back to the days when no one who used windows wanted anything to do with Quicktime.
Well anyways it is good to finely see it coming over to Linux.
I'm surprised to see any anti-UNIX words being said. It goes without saying that each operating system has its strengths and UNIX does it's very well.
As for a suggestion on where to do an internship the best place would be to check out small e-companies that are around your area. The larger companies are great to work in, but the smaller companies are going to be the ones that you are going to have the chances to come in as an intern and be able to learn from the people that are there.
If you take the time to think about it each and every company on the Internet that is not a strict Microsoft shop needs to have UNIX/Linux admins. All you need to do is take the time to look around for a company that needs an intern and go from there.
One of the great things about being an Admin is the flexibility of the schedules. It is easy to work anything in to the schedule of being an admin.
Just remember that all you have to do is look and write some e-mails and I am sure that you will find an opening.
I think that Robert Anton Wilson said it best that "Convictions cause Convicts". We all need to remember that as we go about our jobs. No one technology is the best. Linux, Unix, Macintosh, All are great OSs.

I realize that the article is not the best writen. I don't really care about that though. Ever since I read "A Brief History.." I have been wowed by the wit and the ideas of this great man. I don't think that we could be anything but amaized by the ammount of time he puts into his words.

Too much, too expensive.

Really would you be supprised if they were?
