    I think a lot of them do have real life jobs, it's just their real life jobs are basically doing what they're doing in EVE; that's why they're so good at it.

    That's not really much different to any other MMO which has both PvP and PvE; you generally have your PvP gear and your PvE gear and switch depending on what you're doing.

    The Angels are a fantastic creation; what they suffer from is over use - the original series had its mainstay protagonists, but it didn't trot them out every story arc.

    Although the original series established that they have a finite number of regenerations before they actually die. The reason The Master steals people's bodies is because he used up all his regenerations; they only get 12 of them (giving them 13 forms).

    I always found the unit conversions handy, and the constants were also handy in physics. Oh and the fact that it could do complex numbers.

    I suspect the only people who really use scientific calculators nowadays are students in exams. I don't know what the rules are like elsewhere, but when I did GCSEs and A-Levels, many years ago, exam boards had lists of allowed calculators and mobile phones were banned from exam rooms.

    Aye. Although they generally use Parcel Force, City Link, and DPD for packages and straight Royal Mail for smaller things; who generally handle their own transport, I think. It's possible DPD use hauliers for their bulk transport; they're mostly a local delivery franchise model.

    I would guess the process was thus: feature was developed, at some point in the development cycle it was decided not to include said feature; it is far easier to just disable the portion of the software that controls the enabling or disabling of the feature than it is to actually go and remove all the code related to the feature - partly because a lot of the time someone will reverse the decision in n month's time anyway. This doesn't just apply to games, it applies to pretty much any form of software; I've had to do it countless times.

    Changing career is the only real suggestion I can make. You're always going to run in to terrible code unless you only work on greenfield projects; and the only difference then is how long it takes for that code to become a terrible nightmare with all traces of design lost to the ages.

    Oh and run away from any company that uses the phrase "agile development" unless they can give you a satisfactory definition. In my experience a lot of people use the phrase when what they actually mean is "making shit up as you go along".

    You are correct, I missed the "in an hour". And I agree: it's bollocks; no-one is going to let you do 140 mph on public roads in the UK.

    Because the original post said the person had drive 220 km, not that they had driven at 220 km/h. Even British police will pull you over for doing twice the national speed limit - 70mph - regardless of how well you're driving.

    AMD created x64; Intel licences it from them. In return AMD licences x86 from Intel. If AMD does go tits up at some point, it will almost certainly be Intel at the front of the queue to buy all the x64 rights.

    You can only suspend them if they were actually breaking the force's own rules on storing and transferring data. If they weren't then it's ultimately the force's collective responsibility for failing to put in place a proper data protection policy. You could place the blame entirely at the feet of the chief constable or the GMP Authority, however holding individuals responsible for collective failures never works well.

    I suspect the Police Federation's argument would be that their members were just using the tools made available to them by the GMP. Unless the officers have been using personal devices to carry out police work, but in that case you'd have to check the rules didn't explicitly state they couldn't, otherwise the GMP almost certainly still has vicarious liability.
