I cannot believe you do not appreciate the quality difference between a DVD and a Blu-Ray. That is as bizarre to me as people, and there are many of them, that say they cannot tell the difference between a CD and a 192 kbps MP3. I think those people have hearing problems. The loss of quality is like nails on a chalkboard.
Hell, I can't tell the difference between a CD and a 128 kbps MP3, except maybe if I really, really concentrate. I can't really notice the difference between DVD and VHS either. I guess I'm just thinking about the content, not the quality.
I suspect most people on here make at least MP3 copies of all the CDs they buy - I know I do. How else do you put it on your portable music player? If I scratch/loose the original, I can at least burn another (albeit lower quality) copy. One of these days storage will be abundant enough for me to start using FLAC, but not just yet...
Each VOIP call uses less bandwidth than a voice call, so it's a transition to get people to do this. You still have a monthly contract,
Urm, no I don't. I got 3 on PAYG. What I do need to fork out for is a handset that will run the skype software, which my phone won't. As I don't know anyone on skype it's kinda useless for me.
However, what is useful is that you also get "unlimited" free 3-to-3 calls, some free data and free texts on PAYG, providing you top up at least £5 every 3 months.
Agreed - this is why I've stopped using Adblock+. I just use noscript, flashblock and have turned gif animation off. And I see almost no ads, because they are largely animated. If you have static, unobstrusive ads then I will see them and it won't bother me at all.
I like linux. I use it all the time on servers. But Ubuntu still isn't there in usability.
I've got a PC hooked up to a widescreen TV using s-video on an old Nvidia MX440, and to my audio setup using S/PDIF. On Windows, both these things worked without much fiddling. On Ubuntu, 2 hours of configuring later and I had the TV out working but only in 4:3, and I've made no progres on the audio.
I hadn't even heard that they were releasing a new X-men movie. Now I know all about it thanks to this. If anything, this might increase the box office takings.
Fahrenheit just makes more sense to most of the US.
There, fixed that for you. Celsius is much more intuitive for those of use that have grown up using it. I have no idea what temperatures in Fahrenheit mean without doing a mental conversion. People who are claiming it's more 'intuitive' are just showing cultural bias.
The only reasonable comment I've seen on here pro-Farenheit is that the unit divisions are more useful, and I can get behind that.
And if you must run as local admin (which, to be honest, is sometimes the only way to get stuff done), consider using Drop my rights to run any given program under lower privaledges. My firefox runs this way on my otherwise admin system. I only remembered this the other day when I tried to install the latest acrobat reader update and it complained it didn't have sufficient privaledges.
I did put might in italics;)
It could reasonably be argued that their actions did not demonstrably impair the operation of the bot computers. It's not much wiggle room, but they do have good lawyers (I expect).
Anyway, I never understood why people, even young people, like a proprietary format like MP3 when OGG is free and at least as good.
Who says they likeMP3? It's just the most supported format out there portable music players. If I stored all my music in OGG I'd have a hell of a time finding a 2Gb player for under £10.
Feel free to read the law first. It's actually quite readable, even to non-lawyers.
It looks like they might have some wiggle room with clause (3)(2) to me.
Most people at one point also said they didn't see the difference between VHS and DVDs. Doesn't make those people any less dumb and wrong.
I still can't see the difference between VHS and DVD. Thank you for calling me dumb.
I also can't tell the difference between FLAC and 128-MP3. Does this make me dumb too?

I, like most people in region 1, do not buy movies outside of region 1.
There, fixed that for you.

You can run openBSD on a Spectrum?

cygwin is for wimps. unxutils is enough.
ssshhh: don't tell BT.
Already been done
Clam AV is not very good. But there are commercial AV products for linux. Sophos make a very good product, for example.
There's a +5 troll achievement? Cool. PS - you all suck.

Real web users use netcat. Suck it.
Gah! What a day to get mod points, nothing serious to spend them on. :(

Cygwin is ok, but I prefer just to unpack unxutils to path.
You'd save some keystrokes if you used %*
Don't joke, the Dog Star is a very sirius matter.
Sorry, I meant from a moral standpoint, not a legal one.
