If I had to guess, one of their coders got desperate when told to fix the bug, added the crack into the game, and is, as of this week, asking people if they would like fries with their meal.
Source Control history is a b@#$%, ain't it?
The whole blame-Bush thing is becoming a near obsession. If you don't like him as a president, that's fine, but don't you think it's a little weird that a post about game consoles turns into how it's Bush's fault?
As a whole, the general public is full of morons. Because of this, we vote for representatives that have a better understanding of the issues at hand. Not that these politicians are absolutely brilliant, but I think they have a better understanding of economics than Bubba, Farmer John, and T-Dog.
There's another security option for the paranoid that I don't hear people mention very often:
Virtual Machines.
Simply encrypt the Virtual Hard drive when you're not using it. Keep all your sensitive data on the VM. Play StarCraft on the regular machine.
I for one think that we simply need a high wall of separation of education and state.
The idea that the government gets to decided what our kids can and cannot learn means that they already have total control. The real problem is that this issue is going before the board of education instead of just asking the parents what they want THEIR kids (not the state's kids) to be taught.
Work on solutions for the short-term, medium-term, and long-term? Focus on easing the current crisis while preventing another one in the future?! That's far more responsible than I care to be and I am quite frankly dissappointed.
I vote that we send a space ship to the sun, scoop up part of the sun, and dump it in a giant energy pit in Texas. Then when anyone needs energy, they just go down there and fill up a thermos full o' sun.
Or, I suppose we could also go with your boring responsible solution...
How about using some stored procedures and character filtering? I really fail to see how this problem has anything to do with Microsoft. If your code sucks, SQL injection can be done on pretty much any platform that uses a database.

The use the WingDings font.
If they came with that ability, I would find a way to come up with the $100k+.
