As a long time hardware tech, I am convinced the hardware I see in Macs is no better or worse than average PC hardware-simply because it IS average PC hardware.
I own a couple (Desktop and mac book) which I got to see what all the fuss was about, and frankly I dont see the so called superiority of OSX over Windows either.
Certainly I have seen no difference in stability, and found some things, particularly the setup program to be markedly inferior to Windows!
The fans have to say its higher quality, or look foolish for paying 30% more for exactly the same thing.
I just broke Slashdot rule 5, no criticism of Apple allowed, so I expect the fanfoys will mod me to oblivion.
Anyone remember the Spin City episode where the token black/gay guy changed the spell checker on the office computer to automatically replace every use of the word black with African American.
They then sent out 500 invites to an African American tie dinner (-:

A more accurate assesment will be able to be made when the fuel use for the Diesel generator used to charge the tesla is released, Simons blog promises to do so. A generator had to be used as most of the trip was off the power grid.
Simon and Emilis are experienced glider pilots too, and credit the experience they have from glider energy management as one of the factors in acheiving the record.
MOst amazing thing is the article spelt Emilis surname correctly!
