    And, do I need ID to register to vote . . . ? This was a bit of a controversy in the last US election.

    CAIRO (AP) — Watching the events in Tunisia, where a leading anti-Islamist politician was shot to death this past week, members of Egypt's liberal opposition are fearfully asking: Could it happen here too?

    Their fears of a renegade Islamist attack on any of the top opposition leaders have been hiked by religious edicts issued by hardline clerics on TV saying they must be killed.

    Islamic democracy functions like this: One man, one vote . . . once.

    Once they get in power, the first order of the day is to kill off any opposition. There is never a real election again.

    Actually, I'm surprised that the French are not insulted by the move. Google is not admitting any guilt about "stealing content". Google is saying that French media companies need "development aid", like a Internet Third World country. In other words, Google is not the problem, the French media organizations are, because they have yet to understand this newfangled Internet thingie.

    So I wonder where this money will actually be spent . . . ? First a few big lavish kick-off parties for the heads of the media companies and politicians. Then, fund a few big studies at French research institutes, like INRIA.

    Poof! That 60 € million is gone, and nobody is the wiser.

    They've been taxing my patience for years now!

    Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if a tax on patience would be Hollande's next Taxe du Jour. He can't raise the taxes of everyone all at once, because then everyone would be pissed off at him. So instead, he is targeting many small groups, with many different taxes.

    Everybody like a tax that somebody else pays. Tax the rich? Sure, it only hits the rich! The "Nutella Tax"? No, I am not kidding, this is also a new one. Well, that depends on if you eat Nutella or not. Another targets people who rent apartments.

    So the question is, how long will it take for the French to realize, that they are all paying more taxes in the long run . . . ?

    American technology companies should not take it personally. Hollande is just doing to them, what he is doing to the rest of the folks in France.

    They'll personally pick up that $1 billion wherever you want, and hand it back to personally wherever you want it. All perfectly legal. Oh, they will want a small "taste" of that $1 billion. Hell, they'll take it to the Moon or Mars for you. The first manned colonies there will be tax shelters.

    Or they could mint some $1 billion platinum coins, and take them in their pockets on flights from London to San Francisco.

    Evading taxes, is never a problem for big corporations. Now that they are investing $1 billion in the property in London, the rent rates in that neighborhood will surely skyrocket. Who owns, or partially owns, the real estate in the area . . . maybe Google, as well . . . ?

    Buy up some cheap real estate in a distressed area, and then build something big there. The cheap real estate suddenly becomes quite valuable. A nice business plan . . .

    So the US is number one in social class inequality! Yeah! We're number one!

    This just means that the US has extremely rich kids, who are smart. And extremely poor kids, who are dumb.

    And it demonstrates that you can prove anything you want by fiddling with statistical samplings.
