Further, only the people in the privileged countries are de-evolving, they are the ones that push themselves out of any evolutionary process by killing themselves in very odd ways, and so slowly they even don't notice, or slow enough so they can ignore it, although they might know it. It's their sterility that makes them weak, their social structure that prevents them from giving birth to children before a certain age like 35 to 45 which results in a bad genetical basis for the child, their unwillingness to give birth to children anyway, which will eventually lead to total underpopulation in the rich countries. Poor countries will rise, not just because of their genes but because of their number, and Darwin will smile in his grave that professor Jones wasn't right.
In case you mean swimming doing the breast-stroke, this is a bad idea if you have a hollow back, it makes things just worse. Swimming using the crawl is _afaik_ o.k. though.
I too imagine something like Gibson has written in his books, and i really hope that it will become exactly that. Thats why we formed the 3Dsia project. Our ultimate goal is to provide the system necessary to completely immerse into the net.
I mean, what are you ppl really interested? Are you hackers and want to learn from the code, or are you just interested in gettings stuff for free (like in beer _and_ free speech)? Personally, if i can have both, i am very happy. Sure, Open Source is the true way to go. But being enabled to learn from the code is what is most important for me.
Be honest, when have you ever seen a game-company releasing their absolutely hot code? I am _really_ looking forward to the day when i can grab the source and have a look into it - why should i care if i could use that in a commercial product?? - hey I want to learn from the code, not make money from it! Those coders from Black&White give us the chance to look how they have done it - and i think they should really be praised for that decision (_if_ they eventually really open the source)

Nothing gets transmitted to the client which it should/must/does not want to see. That would be a very naive approach, and I guess Doom II was the last game that transmitted all data to all clients. It would just mean absolutely redundant traffic, which would kill the whole system. Don't worry about that:)
The bummer is, if you transpher your brain into a computer, YOU as a person will stop existing, and another person will continoue existing for you.
Why I think so?: If you are able to move your brain into a computer, you are also able to make copys. As we all know, moving a file from one device to another means just copying to the destination and destroying the source after the complete transpher.
Same would be with this transpher. For some moments both of you would exist, and eventually you are destroyed.
Thats the same with Startrek's transporters - it will never work. But you can't prove it. The other person would swear to be YOU.
