So share the apartment. You can certainly live on minimum wage. You just can't have your own place. You might not even have your own bedroom. But be clear: you're implicitly applying a standard of living that simply doesn't exist in most of the world, and has never existed in most of the world, in most of history.
Seriously. Bradley/Chelsea Manning was tortured to the point of having severe psychological problems (I am not saying being transgendered is a psychological problem, but I strongly question any psychiatrist who would not wait several years until after Manning had access to therapy to get over the trauma of isolation and torture to determine that Manning is indeed transgendered and not just showing signs of having been tortured). America is 100% on the hook for that. One of our own.
Yep. I was explaining to an old-headed unix guy that I use Linux at home, and he didn't believe me, and called it cheap shit, etc., etc. (he railed against Linux, being an old school Unix guy), so I brought my laptop in and showed him, especially OpenOffice (this was a few years ago). He said he was surprised at how professional it seemed. All preconceived notions, which a five minute demo swept away.
That could happen anywhere. Given that the area is fully developed, and not a growth area like the southwest, it seems unlikely that this would suddenly occur.
Anything's possible, of course, but I still think I'm better off than the vast majority of people on municipal supply, or anybody in the southwest.
Rain. The rain falls and seeps in because of the lack of pavement, and in the rainy season in the spring, you can see the water seeping from the bottom of the hill about a half mile from us, which is about 50 feet below my house, and about 70 feet above my well pump. I'm not too worried.
The entire area is fully developed for miles around and hasn't seen aquifer degradation; none of the wells have run dry in the 50+ years they've been operating. We have neighbors who have already had backup wells dug. We're probably in as good a shape as anybody outside a place like Montana could be.
One of the things I was looking for in a house was to be able to supply my own well water. I've got the acreage, and the area is fully developed. All 2 acre lots. Never had a problem with the water table, never should. And I won't need to deal with government restrictions over municipal supplies.
I'll take that a step up. I've been in the industry for 18 years, and each of the four places I've worked has had vital, revenue producing code that was based on higher math, either linear algebra, or something related to digital signal processing.
I recently posted on social media how easy it would be to simply replace a DVD player on a laptop with explosives, clearly and simply showing the meaninglessness of the TSA's requirement to power on devices to get through security. I think it's perfectly likely that this, along with my consistent criticism of the US government and its policies, can put me on a list.
An economically illiterate public is a lot easier to fleece, no? It may not be an intentional plan, but it might be, and it is certainly the case that the educational system is a total failure when it comes to teaching people about their banking system, and how the banking system is exploited by the government and large corporations (but I repeat myself).
You might be interested in Michael Rozeff's explanations of "Panarchism", which is, basically, universal government through subscription. It would tend to be geographically oriented, but wouldn't actually need specific borders.
He was among the first anti-GMO crusaders. As I recall, he followed some fringe Christian mystic dude who was against the genetic engineering of apple trees via grafting. Which isn't good, because apples are polyploid, and can't reliably be grown from seed. That's why they're grafted.
Nope, but I believe the average moron who doesn't understand either will ignorantly assume there is more legitimacy to the UN criticizing something the US does than ME criticizing the same thing.
But the difference is and was that in the end that Lincoln decided to fight for Liberty instead of against it. He decided to make the civil war about freeing the slaves instead of just suppressing dissent in the South (and the North).
Check out his letter describing his scouting mission to Liberia. At one point he had vague ideas about deporting the freed slaves to Liberia and forming a colony. Also keep in mind he freed the slaves ONLY in the states and territories opposing the Union. He prohibited slavery in new territories, but there's reason to believe this was to keep them racially pure (white).
Lincoln used policy to put economic pressure on the South. I think slavery was an issue he manipulated politically. Since he was killed we will never know for sure what he would have done post-war.
Lincoln was an extremist, but not for Liberty. He was the single worst president in terms of Constitutional violations for political purposes up to, and possibly including, Obama.
No, you have to start with Congress. Because they don't have term limits. The President will be gone soon regardless. Chop off the head, and a new one grows in its place. You gotta hit Congress, and SCOTUS.
I love what my country used to stand for. but now, its nothing that I would recognize as my own homeland, anymore.
and I give fuck-all who thinks what of me, for I am speaking the truth, here. and everyone with half a mind knows it.
I could not possibly agree more. I'm tired of being polite to the soccer moms of both sexes who raise eyebrows when I do something as simple as point out how easily some TSA directive can be defeated, and who roll their eyes when I complain about my government violating my rights. Thank God my wife sees the value in saying the truth out loud, and hasn't demanded I go along to get along with all this horse shit.

Is the AWS cloud so powerful that it can create a DDOS botnet that it cannot withstand?

Because eventually it becomes self-correcting.

Something's wrong on the internet. You haven't been called a racist yet.
Oh, wait, you're foreign born. Never mind, carry on!

Here: Lincoln's comments on colonization of the freed slaves.

I like to bring it up. I'm happy to admit it. That's how it gets fixed. Or, at least, I know you can't fix it without talking about it.
I'm unhappy with the state of things. I'm even unhappier when people paper it over.
In a legal sense, I agree with you 100%. In the sense of the perception of the average person, I don't think what you said applies in the least.
No, it just means that your country has more in common with countries like Iran or Soviet era Russia than you'd like to admit.
You haven't seen my anti-US-government rants, have you?
does that mean I'm no longer an extremist for demanding my Constitutional rights be respected?
