If we only shipped 10% of our population, we'd shift that state in a drastic manner. For one, lots more better restaurants, maybe they'd get real Mexican food instead of that tex-mex shit that they think is Mexican.

Culling would only work if you sent them before they procreated. Chances are high that they'll already have offspring by the time they ship out. Also, it isn't the soldier who goes off to war that decides to start the war, he just needed a job in a fucked up economy. It is generally a group of old fat-fuck "elected" "leader" who votes for and approves our little adventures. Their kids are generally safe and starting a nice family in Virginia or some other nice place. BTW, the fucked up economy was courtesy of the same old fat fucks that decided to start a war.

My guess is that satellites that do thermal imaging register dead trees different from live ones. Once images are captured, all sorts of data can be extracted from them, calibrate the images against a walked through acre (if needed) and suddenly *information*. Or you might think that "God only knows".

  4. This was because Obama came in all meek and seeking appeasement rather than guns blazing putting buckshot in people's asses like Bush (the chimp) would have. Had Obama come from a position of strength and willing to shut it all down (the government) if he didn't get his way then it wouldn't have become a giveaway/entitlement to the hospital and pharmaceutical industries. Single payer is what he should have fought to the death for and should have won it.

  5. I sort of agree with you but am still supporting the secession of The Republic of California. We benefit not much from the union and are significantly underrepresented. We should have eight senators, at least and should have first vote in all things, because we have more people and more money and produce most of the food.

  6. So you're saying we have nothing to fear from these refugees? Sounds like we should let them all in, they'd probably make good software developers as they would easily be made to work long hours without complaining due to being so meek by nature.

Blame the economists. They provided an underlying economic theory that made such policies seem the best (safest) option from a perspective of improving a country's economy. It is based on Ricardianism and a misunderstanding of some of its limitations, specifically that in a modern world, capital has no "home country" and no desire or need to invest at home. Couple that with our psychopathic corporations (by law and charter) and you have a recipe for the hollowing out of a country's working class and subsequently its economy.

Yes, we need a new movement of people against the advancement of technology. Lets call ourselves TNL (The New Luddites). I'm not being entirely sarcastic here, we either put strong brakes on technology or prepare for a violent revolt, or a guaranteed minimum income. Either one works though I prefer the latter, it sounds more productive, no pun intended.

Repeatable boring jobs like diagnosing illnesses, reading x-rays, analyzing documents for lawyers, composing music, writing software, etc? Yeah, I guess they can have those jobs, we'll keep the good paying ones like planting flowers and reading to kids (oh, they can read to kids too!? Snap!). Which jobs do you think humans are going to still be better than robots/software in the next 5 years? How about 10? 20? It won't be long till they come for your job pal.

You have no proof of this, so your pure conjecture is amusing. Bernie had an integrity that would have cut across party lines. People in the midwest are strong on integrity, Bernie has/had that in spades, and would have been a stark contrast to Trump who has none.

Your analogy is terrible. Margarine is nothing like butter, margarine is a completely unnatural product that wreaks havoc on a person's health who mistakes it for a food product and ingests it. Butter, on the other hand is a natural product whose fats are an excellent source of nutrition. Yeah, some people are sensitive to the proteins but for most people, butter is a great source of nutrition. Margarine is gray death in a tub.
Your analogy is terrible because a synthetic diamond is very much a diamond, whereas margarine is very much not butter.

The point people here are making is that the perception of value you are referring to is based on a persistent and blatantly untruthful propaganda campaign brought to the masses by DeBeers. DaVinci was a singularly valuable artist/inventor/engineer, his doodles are valued because of who he was and what he did. Diamonds are valued because some marketers came up with an extremely successful campaign, not due to an inherently superior value of these particular stones.

Maybe you think you aren't saying what I state you are saying but since you believe that our vacation and sick time policies aren't onerous and yet they drive us to the scenario I painted. Therefore you feel that we should go to work sick and if our kids get sick then tough on them. It's the "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" mentality that libertarians are so fond of.
Siphoning from real estate is happening in all communities in the area where I live, which is the South Bay area in Southern California. All communities from Long Beach, Watts, and Compton through Torrance and Hermosa Beach are seeing obscene increases in housing cost increase both in rentals and purchases. It really boggles the mind.

  21. I agree with what you view as problems.
Vacation and sick leave policies are regressive. We should all have the vacation time that the fat-cats get. Why should those who make the rich rich by actually working not have as part of the fruit of their labors an extended time away from work? Are you saying that if we get sick we should also drag ourselves to work? If our kids get sick we should not stay and be paid to take care of them? Is that how little we value the next generation?
There are way too many hospital administrators and big pharma is a huge issue that needs to be dealt with harshly.
How can we keep housing from siphoning off money to the 1%? Cell phones siphon money to the 1% too and now they've convinced us all that we all need them.
