This is true but look how people react when anyone proposes the fed moderate business or any other standard. the internet for example. not only that when a compnay gets large enough to set a standard we break em up ( yea I said it) the truth is you can't have yoru cake and eat it
The american economy is built around get rich quick schemes. True there are engineers and inventors which do some remarkable work, however these ideas will never see main stream until there is a reasonable quick profit to be made. take the electric car for instance. this will never take off because one, it's not economically feasable ( kills oil companies, and the muscle image) matter of fact we are going the other way, we are taking cars and putting SUV bodie son them all for what purpose to market it, thats what people want, or think they want. The company which I work for at one point was renowned as an innovator in it smarket,m however for teh past ten years they have reinvented the same technology in the every size and shape you could imagine. Why it's economically feasable (to the close minded)
In my computer science class, ( to give you some back ground I took GCE Computer science which is an english derivitive, used in the west indieas school system. ) We went to local area business and talked to them about how a computer would make there job easier then see if we could address it. my class which wa sonly 5 people worked on an accounting program in basic, which would allow him to set up employee profiles and deductions, then calculate his expenses based on that. it even printed up a fake check. later after moving to the US I took part in a technologies class where we worked with robotics, 3D design and CAD.
I'm sure some of you have seen that robotic arm with sensors that connects to a computer and ou can use a basic type programinglanguage to program it's movements, this worked with a lathe so we could make wax baseball bats all day. We also had student versions of 3DStudio and CAdkey, wit this we combined modelmaking (wood) with cadkey and 3DStudio to design an arched bridge test it and present it.
of the group in the class we spent every lunch break and after school working on it. I think the point is if you let them realize it's a tool then let them design teh project.
I'm sure everyone will desire to do something different so setting a single project will only grab half of yoru students. let them reliase it's a tool, give them flexiility then let them apply it. hoep that helped.
that is soo cool, I'm mesmorized by it. it's so beautiful, (watching video over and over) it's so cool, must watch, must follow message, must infiltrate slashdot, resistance is feutile
This is the reason I chose SuSE over red hat. about 2 years ago I had a Matrox G200 card, and RedHat 5.1. After researching and downloading the latest XFree stuff I was still stuck. the only option I had was the cig drivers $100+ then I found out that SuSE made the XFcom driver which worked with the card and was including it in there relase. viola problem solved. like the distru ever since.
how will both versions be priced ?

I've been a SuSE user for 2 years. I love it, I like the fact that they are packaged with a large array of programs. This is good for me since I use it mainly as a learning tool. Now my question is will the professional version be a a $100+ package and the personal be a toned down gui hell child. I've used caldera and redhat and though ease of use is great I want something that will allow a fair amount of learning through exposer. is SuSE moving away from this ??
#2, No the world isnt' that stupid that you have to restate the obvious as if it were a profound fact. it's a simple fact being laft handed means you have to be a conformist because you live in a right handed world. no one is askign to re-write the books just simple stating that left handed people are an neglected group of folks. no we dont' complain like everyone else but hey it nice to make a point, be it a joke or other wise. look i'm typing with both hands how profound, tomorrow I may hold my coffee with my right hand. jeeze man. my whole family is left handed (pops had strong genes) so left handed issues come up all the time, my cousin turns paper upside down when he writes not to mention having people watch you becuase you turn you hand crooked to write. so go away
well they shoudn't need all the info, just john.dohe@06454.usps.gov or better yet your social security number <laughing histerically> 1234-56-7891@usgov.gov
truth be told I can use both. but it doesn't negate teh fact that it woudl be nice. I actually throw with my right, and every new task I have to spend time thinking which hand works better. Learning pool is a trip. I just hate having to have to deal with this crap. I was making a point not whining. have you ever tried to use a pier of sissors, or have to use a erasable pen. or even draw with a charcoal pencil. probable not so stop talking before you realize and can relate to the issue.
Macintosh Performer. One mouse button in order to get this context menu press, command + click in order to get that context menu press option +click etc etc.
New G3/4 iMac mouse. how to get authritis 101, who the hell designed those little cookie cutter orb looking things anyways. form follows function never made it into that lab did it. then again it's a great ploy since everyone with a palm size larger than a 3yo will be forced to buy another one.
This is slightly off topic but I rant whenever I get the chance. WHY ARE LEFT HANDED PEOPLE BEING NEGLECTED !!!!! I tried once to get an ergonomically correct left haded mouse. aparantly it doesnt' exist and for teh few comapnies that make one I have to pay more money. I have also used those sun mice with the grid pad and it is impossibel to use. I have to cross my eyes and turn the pad upside down for it to work I cant' take it. one of my greatest deleits in life is watching a right handed person try to use my computer.
In our typing class in HS we once switched the mouse and keyboard connections to two system. the girl at the system sits down and starts clacking away only to find it's not typing. she wracks the keyboard and clicks away at the mouse, which isn't moving anywhere she wants. so she does the old left handed upside down mouse backwards movement trick. (weve all done it with a dirty ouse ball) then clacks the keyboard again. only to have it type out, CINDY STOP HITTING ME !!) aqfter which she screems and runs to the tutor who dismisses it and checks it out, he also clacks at the board only to have it type out I'M NOT YORU TOY !!! needless to say by thsi time I wa slauging so hard I got figured out and thrown out of class,:( No my typing sucks
actually it's now hot wel you know how to use a program but it's your artistic ability and eye that makes the difference. blender supports all yoru basic modeling, particle effects and lighting. a good artists with blender can beat someone who knows 3dsmax back to front anyday. here is an example of work done in Imagine a $400 3D program.
I've used autodesk products all my professional life. starting with AutoCAD, and 3DStudio ver 2.0. I still remember by $200 student price combo. with out a doubt 3DS is the best PC based 3dmodeling and animation program out there. the next step is Houdini or alias wave front or some other Unix SGI combo. though never able to afford the $3,000 price tag, plus the extra few grand for plugins (personal) I've always been able to use aquired version. ( on a side note this is how Autdesk got famous anyways. By making it possible to copy the software it was the easiest package for engineers and drafters/students to learn, you learn it at home then use the skills to get a job. thats my theory, just from being in the field.) after picking up on linux (woohoo !) I got into using blender a bit. and though very different in its'usage it is very powerful for home or non professional use.
i'm getting to the point trust me. Anyone who has tried to learn 3D work and get a job doing it realizes just how hard it is. it involves, going to one of maybe 20 programs in the country. then you have to prove yourself with a powerful port folio. ( still remember waiting a weekend for my system to finish rendering then find it crash at 99%). With the advent of cheap and free 3D programs like imagine and blender it's possible for a hoddyist to practice and learn the fundimentals at no cost. I think this is what's most valuable. I may get flaimed for this but being able to use these programs is of no value, it is the artistic ablility or ones ability to apply it to engineering/architectural problem solving that makes it valuable. but most engineering, architecture, and small publishing houses cant' afford to send someone to a 3D program. it's allot easier to let the intern who has been mucking aroudn with it at home play around with a project and if it looks good then use it.
I'vealways drooled after these things. but I am curious of bang for buck. How do these compare to sun, and the latest greatest IBM and inel based clusters. Cost is such an important issue these days and with technology ramping forward do you really need something this mean. This ofcourse is in the domain of server machines and not Imiging stations, here I believe SGI will always be king, or queen if you please.
it has nothing to do with the form of animation. it's the quality of the story IMHO. Disney has been doing this for years and made a killing with it. I have never liked three dimensional animations. It doesn't feel right if you know what I mean. a good example is the new transformers vs. the old ones. 3D work is not expressive enough.
keep in mind this isn't american law. this is brazil where futbol, encourages everything. In jamaica when the team made it to the world cup they had a national holiday. I think it's a case of favoritism
I give up, arrrhhhgg, now waht exactly are they planning to cencor next. will out beloved err the lady from err aaahh the craft lady be forced wo wear sweats and cover alls, nooooo !!! say it aint so. on a serious note though, I've been playing quake, unrealtrourny, dooom, hexen, heretic, castle wolfinstien for over 8 years and I havent' killed anyone yet honest.

my old Packard bell is a 486/66 maybe I can get rid of all the plastics and usless parts and by then I shoudl have somethign about this small.
This is what happens when you have an organization run by lawyers and not developers.
there are three types of business
Market run - e.g. Tobacco,
Lawyer run - apple seems to be creeping this way
developer run - If I were to choose I would choose HP or boeing
