    Well, there was some warning. She had been dying for a few episodes, ever since she saved Aeryn.

    But I was surprised they actually went through with it. I thought they'd find some way to save her at the last second, as usually happens on most shows.

    Nor can you take GPL'd software and combine it with other "free" but non-GPL'd software. The FSF is not about promoting free software, it's about promoting GPL software.

    CDDB is hardly perfect. I've found many entries that were badly spelled and/or bad capitalization.

    Then Gore's people should drop the 'every vote must count' crap. It's not about counting every vote, it's about winning. And it doesn't matter if both Bush and Gore agree to a state-wide recount at this point, it's not allowed for under Florida law. It was an empty gesture.

    Really? Look at this election. Right now New Mexico and Oregon's electoral votes don't matter. And they won't unless alot of unlikely things happen. But had either state voted overwhelmingly for Bush, they could have easily tipped the popular vote in his favor. The popular vote in these states means more than the electoral votes.

    Clock speed is constant, yes, but that doesn't mean that the load is constant. My thunderbird runs considerably hotter under a full load than sitting idle. Surfing and reading email will hardly tax a processor or vid card at all, whereas something like Q3 (I prefer UT myself) will leave them gasping for air.

    Yes, it is lossy. But CDs contain more information than our ears can possible use. You can cut out most of the excess information and be left with something that sounds exactly like the original to the human ear.

    c't magazine conducted a blind test using high-end equipment. The listeners weren't able to tell the difference between the 256k mp3 and the CD samples.

    Just because most of the stuff on Napster is poorly encoded doesn't mean mp3's can't be CD quality. Go to www.r3mix.net and look under the quality section.

    I personally use ExactAudioCopy and LAME to encode my OOP CDs and no matter how hard I try, I can't tell mp3 apart from the original.

    That doesn't take into account ecomonic issues. Less affluent areas probably won't have as many cell phones as the richer neighborhoods.
