I don't understand all the hubbub either. So MS bundles a browser with their operating system... so what?
Back in the DOS days, word processing software didn't have a spellchecker built in. You had to buy a separate spellchecker if you wanted that functionality and the spellchecker companies had a nice little profit centre for themselves. Then one day, word processing software started coming with a spellchecker built right in! Sure it was bad for the people selling spellcheckers, but it was a win for the consumer.
Operating systems evolve... they start including things that weren't included in the past... things like internet browsers. If the (free, bundled, zero cost) browser doesn't suit your needs or tastes, it takes less than 5 minutes to download and install Firefox or Chrome.
I'm not sure that announcing this to the news was "the right thing."
I think it was. Divulging the specific contents of the device might be inappropriate, but letting the world know about a screwup like this is most certainly "the right thing."
Songsmith is to music as:
(a) Goatse is to erotica
(b) Professional wrestling is to sports
(c) Darl McBride is to humanity
(d) Ants are to a picnic
(e) No, it's worse... much, much worse.
Maybe if the battery life were longer than 4 hours, I'd be willing to overlook the fact this thing is based on volatile memory. But if I can't even shut down the machine overnight (and it takes ~15 minutes to restore 32GB from flash) then AFAIC this "SSD" is strictly a novelty.
Considering it currently costs a few tens of thousands of dollars per kilogram just to launch a payload into LEO, I don't see anybody returning water from Mars at $1000/kg anytime soon.
Today. During the inauguration. WTF??? What does the inauguration have to do with this?
Well, somebody who is inclined toward cynicism might conclude that the company deliberately chose to release this information when public attention would be diverted elsewhere.
Let me know when I can get my ATI drivers installed and dual monitors up and running in Ubuntu (or OpenSuse or any other distro) without touching the console... hell, I'm having a tough go of it even with the console.
As much as I love to see Linux develop as a viable alternative to Windows and MacOS, in my experience it simply isn't where it needs to be for mass market uptake.
If only there were some way to force all girls and women to wear some kind of head-to-toe covering that conceals any hint of shape or form. Even catching sight of a female face might induce men to think impure thoughts, so it's probably best if only the eyes are visible through some sort of slit in a veil.
Enforcement of this dress code might be a problem though... so perhaps there is some way to make it a religious requirement that women be completely covered this way... maybe by proclaiming that it is the will of God.
My company (large IT firm) blocks the use of google docs from anywhere within the corporate network. Just attempting to navigate to google docs generates a warning page about accessing a site that contravenes corporate policy, and that repeated "violations" will be logged and reported to management. Many's the time it would have been much more convenient to perform some collaborative task in google docs rather than routing a DOC all over the goddamned place via email attachment... but it is not to be.

The boys celebrate their victory back home; meanwhile, on the moon, the asphyxiated whale lies dead. The end credits roll over this shot in silence.
If they were triplets, I'd name them Abort, Retry, Fail?
Actually I did RTFA (or at least I read 3/4oTFA), and it left me rather underwhelmed.
I know somebody who works at IBM. They work on a project that supports HR department's requirements when they are doing big layoffs.
In a kafkaesque sort of way, they have job security just so long as things suck and there are additional layoffs coming down the pipeline.
2. Find me a computer that can boot from it's own RAM drive.
A 4-hour battery life on the ANS-9010 essentially destroys this argument. The remaining two arguments are valid however.

In Soviet Russia, jokes queue you.
I somehow doubt that the Russian government will be the last entity to offer rides for paying tourists.

... drinking "Exotic, pure Martian water" from 30ml bottles that cost $15000 a pop.
Best of all, Spirit Airlines has also agreed to award Mr. Kolodjay the 12.6 air miles he is owed for the flight he did take ...

Naaaahhhh ... that would probably never work ...
Worst ... decision ... ever! [/comicbookguy]
J2ME doesn't run on the iPhone
That would be one cold, cold day in hell wouldn't it?
Facebook friends != real friends
I'm beginning to think that in general, modern society is a Perfect Storm factory.
Posting this at grave risk to my karma because, well because the song is actually pretty damned cool.

Magnitude six would mean it will be slightly less noticeable than Uranus.
