OK, but how does that mean that Apple is capable of suing on behalf of a dead CEO of the company? Face it, if this was anyone else, you would all immediately see how ridiculous it is.
I'm not talking about their views, I'm talking about the two commenters above me. Look at GGP's comment and then GP's. GGP said:
Christianity especially have been used for lots of bad, and has always been used to control other people and is manipulative and evil by design. It also tries to hinder people's thinking, and tries to tell people how everything is without anyone needing to think.
To which GP replied:
Yeah, that whole "be nice to people" aspect of christianity sucks.
I don't really understand your comment. Not believing in an afterlife, one should try to enjoy real life. His attitude (whether well-founded or not) was that he did that. I think you've been misguided on the way atheists think.
Not to mention the implication that those who believe in the afterlife would think, "I can shorten my life as much as I want".
But it'll only last for a year, by which time we will have adapted to naturally process pure, immaterial data, freed from the unavoidable constraints of software.
Sorry, I've written a few comments to this effect. In my defence, I was talking about a twitter competition, which has already happened. TFS treats the twitter and photo competition as the same thing (mentioning 140 characters, etc.), so I suppose that's why I did too.
they were just looking for someone to kiss their asses in a tweet. This isn't about pithy expression, they just wanted something that works as relatively cheap advertising.
As a student with a test tomorrow, I would love if my lecturers would do this, because my tech skills would mean I'd get an advantage over most of my peers, so my score would be better.
But really, I'm not sure if it's all its cracked up to be. I certainly don't think 60 minutes, heads down, writing furiously (which I'll have tomorrow) is the best. Especially for a maths exam. However, I know that there is a lot to be said for the ability to easily recall a lot, and to know concepts and definitions back-to-front. Ultimately, a shakey memory of concepts and definitions, coupled with the ability to look them up, would surely lead to more mistakes gone unnoticed. These things are important, and deep understanding must be founded on some rote.
Do you wish to look as happy as me? Well, you've got the power inside you right now. So, use it! And send one dollar to Happy Dude, 742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield. Don't delay, eternal happiness is just a dollar away.
Agreed. And I'd have a fucking clue how to pronounce it!
But YaCy... "yacky"? "yassy"? "yah-kai"? Might not seem like a big deal, but in my experience, most people don't tend to use something unless they a) have heard the name or b) can work out the pronunciation.
I don't know if I'm feeding a soft troll or just disagreeing with you, but anyway...
I have to defend my favourite distro, Arch Linux. I think it's important to realise that an operating system like this does not simply lead to unnecessary work. In fact, part of the point of it is to keep things simple and avoid complicated hacking to achieve something simple ("unnecessary work" in my book). It is certainly not for everyone, but that's because it demands a reasonable level of knowledge and understanding. Equipped with that, maintenance is quite easy (in other words, you don't have to keep working). A well-set up system can be achieved in less time than for Windows. At that point, it doesn't require extra hard work at all. Update everything: pacman -Syu. No nonsense at all.
I hope you know that the massacre was in Norway. Swedes are probably more shocked than those of us further away, but it's not a great indicator of terrorism in Sweden.
I don't know why parent is being modded up and the AC down. It's not like the researchers are saying to one another, "seeing as being dumped feels exactly like spilling hot coffee one the hand, we should check if this is backed by brain scans". You say that you know that the difference is, in fact, detectable between the two by adequate brain scanning equipment. You back this up by saying that the experiences feel different. That is as ridiculous as saying that you've rubbed charcoal and diamonds on paper, and you know they're different elements.
No, I wouldn't, actually. I think making a doll of him is ridiculous, full stop.
OK, but how does that mean that Apple is capable of suing on behalf of a dead CEO of the company?
Face it, if this was anyone else, you would all immediately see how ridiculous it is.
I remember hearing that the astronauts apparently had no idea where the wall is.
They should've sent a geographer!
Oh wow, what an insightful and original comment.
I know that. That's not what I'm saying.

which doesn't make any sense as a response.

He rinked? Ice skating is the best fun! Well worth the money.
Q1: Quality of life = Integral from(t=birth) to (t=death) [ Enjoyment(t) dt ]
Note that the enjoyment function can be negative as well as positive.
Prove that a longer life can have lower quality than a shorter one.

Person 2: No! Here is a good aspect to X!

Of course, by 2014 we'll all be using Linux.

My complaint is that the winning entry read like an advertisement, so the apparent focus of the competition was dishonest
Why guess, when you can read the article?

Move along, now...

That's just because you used to shave. Remember that?

Note that I haven't
The kernel in Windows 9 will be Linux.
...so will we be able to claim that as The Year of the Linux Desktop?

...or in the bleeding obvious that has already been told to everyone that didn't work it out.
Exactly. Can we get a !news tag on this?
