    e-Bay - all the items in the article are links to the e-Bay auction for that item. Low UID is already over $350(US). Wow. By now (3 hours later), it's topped $1362 for the UID. @slashdot.org is now at $510. Insane! But good for EFF.

    Also, what's up with having more than 8 bit colours? You don't need those extra bits to get the gist of a picture; the recipient of the 8 bit picture will recognize whatever is on the picture just as well as if it was 24 bit, right? Right?

    In Gmail, there's "Download all attachments as Zip". And POP3. I don't know about them other mail services, but that seems pretty straightforward to me.

    I know it's a novel concept in our brave new world, but a service provider should just provide service, and leave the monitoring/policing to separate entities whose responsibilities cover those aspects. Otherwise, we all might as well get chipped with GPS locators and audio/video recorders and route everything to your nearest friendly community overlord. Yeah, people would never, ever allow that.

    Seriously, if you want to have a private conversation, ban cell phones from the premises - even turned-off phones are a liability.

    I actually remember reading about "Windows-on-a-flash-disk" when the miniature computers started to pick up. I remember thinking how awexome that would be to have, especially if your system went FUBAR - just tell it to zero out driver settings on next boot. No tedious reinstallation procedure, save for a few drivers.

    Linux doesn't make BIOS calls, nor does Windows (since before Windows 2000). I was about to refute you, but according to MS KB321779 you are right on the money. Windows NT 4 (not really that surprising and Windows 98 (WTF?!) was "Plug and Play Capable". For some reason they're also asserting that WinME is one, but that must be a typo.

    Yeah, that's one. I can't think of a single girl I know that I could persuade to go to the party. At least not anyone my girlfriend will allow me to invite :-/

    I sort of know the feeling he's describing. I was just so lucky to find that the bathroom I had access to was clean and had the sink placed right next to the toilet seat, thus making it easy to purge out of both ends without soiling myself, though getting the godsdamned chunks out of the sinks took some time, using the paper towels available.
