    As much as I dislike Sony, I can't agree with you.

    Yeah, maybe they got some free publicity from making it possible to join Folding@home, but do you honestly believe that that's a negative thing?
    I think it's amazing that they've actually leveraged that amount of computing power into a project that so sorely needed a boost. I think it's amazing that they F@h people now have to up their ante to keep up.
    Hell, Sony could probably get a little more Goodwill-publicity squeezed out of the thing if they gave some kind of credits per X cycles of F@h from your unit as an incentive, but come on. Why complain that they've done something that benefits both them and everyone else?

    Can you lose rights to a patent for not protecting it? IANAL, but no.

    However, if you don't go after infringements in a timely fashion (e.g. wait for the patent to become an industry standard, or wait for the target company to become successful), then you risk losing rights. Sooo... Yes?

    The identity of the user was only questioned after the fact. They actually found kiddie porn in the IP address registree's room. I'd bet that he'd stand much stronger, legally if they hadn't, but he's trying to get the case thrown out of court because he'd set up an unsecured Wifi, which his lawyer argued made it unlikely enough that it was him that the police should have walked away...

    The calendaring has gotten better too. That used to be the main complaint for the "Not an Outlook replacement" crowd. Ooh, integrated? Not just Sunbird? Because that's actually useful...

    I just got my phone sub upgraded with a 1.5 mbps data connection - then I use Bluetooth to connect my mobile device and go online. Sweeeeeeet. :-D

    I haven't actually thought much about the sluggishness, as a small detail was what turned me off of FFx2...
    When there's only one tab open and I hit CTRL+W I want to close that window. FFx1.5 does that as it ought, FFx2 does not... Small thing, I know.

    Seriously, if you have a business model that gives you certain cash flow, it is understandable if you don't want to consider copying someone elses business model if it is uncertain cash flow for anyone but them.

    At first, my boss was very excited about Vista (without having tried it on his own skin). I spoke to him about this and asked him to reconsider. Then he went online, googled for reviews and feature listings - and we are now no longer on the road to the DRM-upgrade.

    In fact, given the chance, we'll probably start migrating to some form of Linux within 6-9 months. If only we had a well-functioning* alternative for Exchange/Outlook available...

    I've always held that being blood type AB is probably one of the biggest fortunes of my life. Of course, like all other privileges, it should be shared, and even though I can get tap water in my veins and my body won't reject it, I donate (note: not sell) willingly and regularly to help others. In the end, if they start running low, it won't affect me if I get run down in that time, but that'd just mean I'd be taking blood that could help others.
