  1. It will be unfortunate it the incoming president disadvantages these third party content providers. There are jobs that will be lost if these companies go out of business or new companies are scared away, mostly middle class jobs in technology and media content creation. This will be a societal net loss, with no upside in either government income or consumer price cuts - the exact opposite of a free lunch in economics.

  2. It shouldn't be called hijacking. on WIPO Panel Says Ron Paul Guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking · · Score: 1

It is a misnomer to call this hijacking because someone in Ron Paul's position would have had reason to believe that he actually had the right to own that domain name.

I think it can be acceptable for gaming websites and other low-value websites to allow weaker passwords though, because the inconvenience of a lot of extra typing isn't worth the utility and so that people automatically have multiple passwords if that password is insecure.

  8. Why blame the student? on Bone-Headed IT Mistakes · · Score: 1

Whereas the student was charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor computer crime for copying information left nearly in plain view, the admin is considered guilty of nothing more than a brain-dead IT gaffe. I don't understand why they would even try to accuse him for information that he was practically given. But fortunately, as the article says later on, the student won't face any prison time.
