  1. Please... on How 'DevOps' Is Killing the Developer · · Score: 0

This smells like yet another attempt for a prima donna developer to avoid responsibility for the havoc his or her shoddy code wreaks upon the real world. Sad.

    "a human remains concentration game"?

Yes, people getting fired up about a book that helps kids understand tragedy is idiotic, as Olmsted clearly recognizes. However, writing or saying things that are even more asinine isn't going to achieve anything except validating the idiots' misdirected efforts.

Ignoring respect for the dead doesn't make you sound clever or witty; rather, it makes you look foolish and weak.

Perhaps they're just trying to reach out to expand the pool of applicants to give opportunities to those who otherwise wouldn't be included in the applicant pool. That's call smart hiring, not sexism.

This is par for the course, my friend. You are a slave--nothing more, nothing less. To be employed in the United States is to be enslaved.

  11. Re:Solaris on If Linux Wasn't Open Source · · Score: 1

Solaris will soon be open source (or so Sun has claimed recently)... Perhaps that gives some indication of the utility of open source software and its development model. I imagine Sun is doing (considering?) it because they feel it will enable them to better compete with existing solutions. Think about it: Users are provided with a greatly sought-after thing--the ability to actively fix and improve the reliability/security/etc of their OS...

  12. Ha. Haha. Blah. Blahblah. on Computer Stupidities · · Score: 1

Ah. How cute. Make fun of the people who aren't technically-inclined enough to grok all of the idiosyncracies and otherwise non-sense-making aspects of a computing device. I don't know if anybody has noticed lately, but computers generally don't make a tremendous amount of sense, nor are they particularly intuitive. While I can occasionally find joy in poking fun at people as they make seemingly foolish mistakes, I can also recognize self-serving mockery when it arises. I'm not impressed...

Hey kids, crack.linuxppc.org has NOT BEEN CRACKED. Rather, the *very* quick and dirty guestbook forgot to filter out certain HTML tags that allow posters to do annoying things. THAT IS ALL. NO CRACK. And by the way, what good will an NT Admin. password do you if the site is constantly down?! No joke, I have not been able to view the web page on that thing for over 24 hours!
