It's a reference to David Icke. Not content with his lot as a BBC sports commentator, he declared himself the son of god, and proclaimed that the Queen of England is infact a lizard. Makes sense I guess. Given a choice between people thinking I was insane, or thinking I liked football, I'd go for insane too...

I'm fairly sure there will be some code from some internal libFat, libUsb, libD3D, libDVD, libNetwork libs (whatever they are called) that has been reused. To not do so would be insane. Equally insane would be taking libWindowsRegistry and porting that to the 360. I imagine both points of view are right to some extent.

I expect more from the OSS community, than the academic community to be honest. The amount of (CS) papers I've read that either fabricate the results; fail to mention serious drawbacks; only work in extreme edge cases; have hand massaged data sets;or fail to acknowledge any computing advances from the last 10 years; is a bit beyond ludicrous to be honest. GIMPs UI has hideous usability issues that largely preclude it from any serious work. Last time I attempted to use it, the simple fact you couldn't see the brush when you moved the mouse over the canvas infuriated me to the point I doubt I'll bother with it again. Just because a photoshop user points out these flaws does not mean that it gives you the arrogance to simply ignore these comments. The GUI was hideous. If there is development work going on in this area, then IMHO it should be applauded. Taking your approach of simply poo-pooing everything because you absurdly believe GUI enhancements to be the work of satan (photoshop users), isn't really going to move the product forward now is it?

To make PS3 developers feel at home, the dev tools will be based upon the open source 'brainfuck' compiler, and the processor fragments will be physically arranged in the shape of a finger flipping you the bird.
