  1. Worst Idea ever on Forget Napster & Gnutella: Enter Mojo Nation · · Score: 1

This is stupid. Just like every other idea like this. No one wants to bother with some sort of digital cash that you can exchange for MP3's, or cash out into $$(yeah right). Do these guys really thing that people are going to fall for this crap? I think napster hit the nail on the head. It's easy to use and nothing to bother with, just plug it in and turn it on. Sorry guys.

  2. Everyone Knows It on Two-Faced Napster? · · Score: 1

No matter how much we preach about freespeech and "down with the copyright laws" You can tell just by hearing the Napster guys talk that all they are interested in is making money and pirating mp3's. Freedom and justice are just a byproduct of their scheme that makes it look legit. Support Gnutella

  3. Metallica on Interesting Way To Protest Napster · · Score: 1

People that download top 40 music deserve to have to listen to the crap. Get a life, turn off the radio, and listen to some real music.

  4. Why develop your own in house software for hot swa on Introducing The New Slashdot Setup · · Score: 1

checkout www.steeleye.com. they make some great software for linux that does just that. all the code originaly came from NCR's lifekeeper, which is rock solid.

  5. Why is it the best. on Ask Patrick Volkerding, Slackware Founder · · Score: 1

Why is slackware the best distro out there?

  6. I think this will be great in the long run. on Bob Bruce on the BSDI/Walnut Creek Merger · · Score: 1

I've just started using freebsd recently and I don't have anything but positive things to say about it. If anything I think this merger will have a positive impact on the BSD community and the future of "free"BSDs. Keep up the good work guys.

  7. F*&k the Government on The Feds' Ramsey Electronics Raid Blow by Blow · · Score: 1

Every day I see crap like this flying across the tv and the internet one day the government is going to realize that people aren't going to take this shit and start fighting back. We're not slaves to some almighty power that tells us what we can and can't do. Fight for your freedom and liberty before it is gone.

  8. The US gov't will follow soon on UK Satellites May Keep Cars From Speeding · · Score: 1

Think about it. We let the government control all sorts of things they shouldn't. For instance microsoft the gov't seems to think they should tell microsoft how to run their business, what they can sell, how much they can sell, where they can sell it. I can easily see that the people of this country would let uncle sam tell the auto manufacturers they have to install a speeding device in cars. I hope one day the people that don't care about the rights that are taken away from them every day will wake up and smell the horror before it is too late. In california you can't smoke inside bars anymore... what's next. Hell in some states you can't walk around with an ice cream cone in your pocket. check out http://www.dumblaws.com

  9. Re:LEGO thoughts on LEGO Mindstorm Book Review · · Score: 1

I'll have to disagree with you a little bit on this one. I think the reason they made it only for windows is small number sets put out. I just got my set 2 days ago and it is numbered 170000 or something like that. thats not a high number. so there must not be that many sets out there. If they want to sell all of their sets they are going to have to have a platform that almost anyone is going to be able to use. Then you've got the price of development of software for multiple platforms. and with only 300000 sets that's a pretty steep price.

  10. GPS has to have line of sight. on Subdermal Implant Can Be Tracked via GPS · · Score: 1

What if someone was locked in the trunk of a car or in a house. GPS uses satalites that require line of site to work. I've read a lot of articles about this kind of stuff and I don't really see it being anything more than vapor ware for atleast a few more years. But untill the technology that GPS uses is fundamentaly changed this isn't going to happen.

  11. The answers wern't that bad on Interview: the "Punk Hacker Kid" Responds · · Score: 1

Considering the people that I know that read slashdot and call themselves openminded I think the questions this kid got are pretty good. If your gonna be open minded don't bash something because it's mainstream. A lot of people to day want to be in some sort of underground movement because they think being underground is cool. Listen to your heart and don't think that just cause the kid is on MTV that he's a sellout looser no he was just a kid with a good scam to be on tv. I think it was a pretty good scam myself. So think about that one a little bit and don't be so quick to jump on someone's back.

  12. Make it a router on High Tech Junk · · Score: 2

Here's what i've done with my old boxen. Take the old box and install linux or your favorite *nix and then put a modem and a network card in it. Make it dial your isp and act as a router for your network you can learn all about this here IP Chains. It's cool, and fun and gives you a real excuse to have a network closet at home. and make sure to get an external modem and hang it up next to the hub so you have cool blinking lights

  13. Why don't people listen on Y2K Policy with Attitude · · Score: 1

It's funny when people ask me about y2k because i'm a computer professional. I just tell them that I think everything is gonna be just fine and not to worry, then they go out and buy a generator and stock up on food (me and a friend of mine got into his parents stash). Then people ask me if my systems are y2k compliant, and I say yes but then again it really doesn't matter if they are are aren't no one cares about my little webserver and the mail server except for the 20 guys who get therir mail from it. So if all the world is laid to waste then it's not my fault and I doubt it will be anyone who is reading this either.

  14. I think it's great on Lo-Tech Cinema · · Score: 1

The blair witch project was just what I needed. None of the bloatedness of other recent movies. It was very nice to see a movie do so well with so little a budget.(I heard around $$40,000) I hope more people take notice to how a story is presented not just how much eye candy they can shove in your face.

  15. Re:pretty decent on Forum:Blair Witch Project · · Score: 1

I feel the same way you do. I thought the end was scarry but the rest of the movie wasn't really that scarry. Maybe i'm desensitized to this stuff I dunno. I thought it was a good movie but not scarry, and that's my quest now to find a movie that scares me like when I was a little kid watching night mare on elm st and then walking home from my friends house late at night. that's what I want
