I have not run into a compelling reason to upgrade from Win2k to XP. Win2k has been very stable for me. It seems that my XP boxes get more security patches than my Win2k boxes. I don't need all the eye candy of XP.
We need a whole subsection for everyone who wants to do this. Too bad the community doesn't actually build a few great ones instead of many many many mediocre ones.
Wow. I'm almost speachless. What about all those people that use webmail? What about the spammers that don't look for bounces? Or those that fake the from addresses?
How about turning off the ability to install XPIs? Or some of the many other ways to lockdown your browser. You searched first, right? Did you try the forums? Or IRC? Or Google?
Unhappy with the focus of the GUI, Mozilla Firebird and later Mozilla Thunderbird forked from Seamonkey. These have been very successful. Unfortunately, many Seamonkey developers were unhappy about the way it was done and some may refuse to contribute to the *bird projects out of spite. All of these projects are under the domain of the Mozilla Foundation, but the roadmap has not been updated in quite a while.
They're not resetting your preferences, just reminding you to check them. And if you had checked them instead of running to Slashdot, you'd see that they're still the same. They just aren't going to start using those preferences until next year.
Have you tried some of the artists websites? Most of the ones I've visited are geared towards selling the next album. They often don't list names of tracks on their albums (I have to hit amazon.com for that) nor the lyrics. At least not in an easy to find manor. If it were, then wouldn't it be at the top of google? Then there are the splashy flash only sites. What good does that do me?
What about all the important email that gets buried under a deluge of electronic spam? Aunt Martha's prize winning cookie recipe, for example, might get lost among the hot naked teens emails. At least with email we can try to put a filter on it. But what is the government's policy about XXX regular mail coming to a 10 year old? Does that child really need his penis enlarged? An email from a teacher or college professor could easily be buried.
There's nothing fundamentally different about California. They're just the only ones who manage to get things done.
Ever since I started filing my taxes electronically, I've wondered why they didn't just do this. I guess its just the next step.
Even my state has its own FREE online program.
It would be much easier if they just said "here's what we know about you. do you see anything wrong?" You can do that with your credit report.
All these companies out there are collecting data on us, so why shouldn't we be able to see the profile they've built?

Yes, we still use REXX for scripting on mainframes.

There are plenty of resources such as the mozillazine forums and IRC. Please stop posting these on Slashdot.

The Mozilla Document Object Model Inspector is very useful. It comes with Mozilla and Firebird.

Set your widths in em's or ex's instead of px's.
This article was just a proof of concept. Its not a final redesign.
Its about time. Not only will this make Slashdot more portable, but it can save lots of bandwidth, both for Slashdot and for all of the users.
Also, this will make it much easier to apply user style sheets.
Unfortunately, this was just a demonstration, not an actual change to Slashcode.
All sites that use Slashcode will benefit!

I found a way to have an RSS feed without paying for it. The instructions were even posted on the blogger help site. Read my blog for instructions.

Verizon Wireless is the largest provider of wireless services in the US. Nextel doesn't want to lose any more customers to them.
I believe WinZip 9 no longer has those limitations.
That's exactly what is planned to happen for Mozilla 1.5. http://texturizer.net/firebird/faq.html#5.1
Just print the result when they vote. If they see an error, let the user correct the problem and print again, shredding the bad one.
