Whining? Naww.. Ignorance, maybe.

You want people to stop whining because they don't NEED to upgrade? I'm ignorant.. I'll admit it. But when you look at the changelog and see things like:
ipv4 updates Filesystem buffer code updates Minor IDE driver update Locking changes in various drivers: SCSI drivers..
... they seem pretty important when you look at them, don't they? Or is there a difference between an update and a fix?
Does anyone know if it's possible to run a Voodoo 2 board in a system where your 2D board is a Banshee? I was going to run out and grab a board, but now I'm thinking that I might need to buy another 2D board, and I don't think I wanna do that right now.
Get a Voodoo3! (Wrong -- no Glide!!)

I also enjoyed your enthusiasm when I finally found that same X server for my Banshee.
But, think about it --- what good is that card going to do you without glide? They've been talking about porting it for many many many months, and still nothing.
Hey Rob.. Howwabout having any links inside articles go through a redirection script of some sort, and then display the click-through totals along with the article?
... would be easy to do, and would be very interesting (to say the least)...
You have to be kidding me.. Around here (omaha) when nightfall hits and it's net primetime, I'd LOVE to see a single cable modem subscriber get even 20k/sec.
1) With DSL, you don't share bandwidth with your neighbor. You share a pipe at your ISP.
2) With DSL, you don't have to worry about your neighbor running promiscious (sp) and grabbing all your emails and outgoing port 80 request, etc.
Serious, I'd pay twice as much for ADSL than cable.. Even 128k..
I really don't think people that say it's hard to install are talking about typing complexity/difficulty.
I *am* having a bitch getting RedHat up and going - well, X.. so do ya wanna help me (using only your nose) get this damn Creative Labs Voodoo Banshee working with X?

Let's see... Your Voodoo2 card could cost around $150 or so... (It was almost $200 when I got my Banshee)..
And that doesn't do 3D...
And you're wasting another slot in your system..
YET - My Banshee cost me $99, has excellent 2D, and I'm not wasting slots.
I don't think anyone who bought a Banshee bought it because they thought it would trounce the V2..
Ok, I have a Banshee, and I'm mad. :)

THANK YOU, logycke.
I use Solaris, FreeBSD, and Linux -- and never really understood just *why* Linux wasn't UNIX, per se.
But now I do.
If I could moderate this thread, I'd give ya a 4. heh.
Is Oracle-4-Linux immune to the file size barrier?
I saw you CAN use raw partitions to use as databases, but I wasn't sure that the option was available for the Linux port..
Anyone know?
I'm running the 3/21 as well, and as you said - slashdot renders fine - and quick. But, you should try http://www.cnn.com.. Not so fine.
And, are the sub-components supposed to work in this build? For some reason, nothing outside of the actual browser works.. (e.g., mail client)
I would just like to say thanks, too.
Bandwagon boy (and proud banshee owner)
Does it have a CDRom drive?
(For those 2" CDs I have)
And if you thought for one moment I was serious, you need to wake up.
Ok, so GAMES=COMPUTERS=NERDS, so..
Anyone check out the new Barbie Magic Hairstyler game? It ROCKS! Here's a URL for ya:

...some nerds might actually be interested in COOKING, but you shouldn't see cooking articles on here... unless sengan lets it through.

Man, I wish I was on top of the tech-wave like you are, ya know? Wait, lemme try...
"They should have a book on Shockwave instead!"
"They should have a book on JavaBeans instead!"
...whoa! If I'm ignorant and spout gay-ass buzzwords, then I'm cool! This is SOOO cool. I can't wait to tell my mom.
(Not saying C++ is bad or anything, but I am saying that straight-up C coding is a man's language.. Heheh)
