    yes I understand this, if you are not paying for something(the consumer) then you are the product. My belief was always that google took our general information such as a middle eastern male in 27-28 range lives in upper east side new york and likes fitness and wireless communication etc etc. But they did not associate that info to my personal name. That was what facebook tries to do, and is why i am vehemently against facebook. But now I think google in pursuit of higher profits is trying to force the same thing on its users.

    I have historically been a believer in google, and thought they where one of the few companies who put principles like free information etc ahead of profit (my naivety). But moves like this are further cementing my belief that something is rotten at google, and it started to get real bad once Page became CEO. The one good thing about this is that it opens up the doors for competitors to take business from google imho, creating competition.

    Difference between gases and sound waves is that gas can get around obstacles and into small crevices, sound waves cannot. Unless the fire is direct line of site and close to the fame in the video demonstration then it will not work. Put a simple piece of plywood or sheet metal in front of the speaker and fire and watch nothing happen.

    I dont know why i got flaimbait, I was genuine in my question. Especially since it was hypothetical. If a company goes bankrupt after being sued and losing, where does that plaintiff stand in order of having rights to the bankrupt companies assets?

    Out of curiosity where would this patent plaintiff stand in order of having access to RIM assets if they where to file for bankruptcy? Assuming that RIM goes bankrupt tomorrow so before a new trial begins etc. I hope they are at the end of the line.

    My belief is that Human where created by advanced extraterrestrials, when I look at our progress as a species over past 50 years, I think that as long as we dont kill ourselves in the 50 years we should be at a place where we can create new humans from scratch, or from genetic modification. I believe us humans on earth where created by such a seeding operation, either as an experiment or a pay it forward or just that as a seeding exercise. So my creationism is based entirely on the notion that science and technology created us.

    One of the rules of earning a patent are that it is simply an improvement on an existing thing. So wouldn't it make sense for HTC for example to patent their entire HTC one x, that will soon be released? Then all the item s in that phone are no longer patent protected from the software to chips , because the act of putting them all together in the configuration that the HTC one x, did is a clear improvement on them as pieces. Is it not an improvement of the 3g chip or the java software when they are put together to create the phone? I think it would hold up, I remember reading this article http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/15/business/15schumer.html?pagewanted=all [nytimes.com] And the main villain in it Claudio Ballard said the following, ot justify his patents “I didn’t invent the scanner; I didn’t invent networking, or computers or software,” he said. “But I am an expert at systems integration, and I created this complete end-to-end solution” for digital check processing.

    First I think patents are outdated, and the future will be filled with trade secrets instead of patents.

    are you kidding me, that is one of my absolute favorite things about gmail. SO many times i do want to send an attachment and in my hurry forget to actually attach the file but because of the intuitiveness of gmail i am saved from looking like a fool (for that instance) and sending a blank email .

    I am a partner in a small SEO company and I feel dirty for it, but of course the money is good. Whenever I meet someone from google or Microsoft search I tell them how I long for the day they make my job obsolete. The net effects of of SEO are that search results are corrupted and instead of showing the most relevant or best source of original information, they show results of companies who have bought to most links and paid for the most fake blog and forum posts. SEO is about as bad for society as CDO and CDS trading by financial companies. SEO is robbing society of good information and knowledge.

    I modded you up because I also think this is the best solution. What about a return policy? I try walking out of a movie halfway through if it suck go to get my money back and the theater wont do it. I can return a tv or half a box of cookies if they are no good, why not get a refund on my movie ticket? Plus it would help hollywood from making crappy movies. (maybe)

    I agree 100%. I use adblock on lots of sites, but the places I dont use and actually enjoy the ads because of their relevance and low key-ness, is google search and gmail. The ads are data driven and so many times they are right what I am looking for. Other sites just post ads for nutritional supplements when im reading an article about space exploration or might have an ad for a laptop, what do I care about those when reading an about space. Now if they advertised an imax showing near me about space or a telescope maybe i would make use of the ad.

    This guy did this already in a way I think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kanzius But she had the brains to deliver it via the drug (not sure if his particles would be dilviered via the drug but dont see why not). Also he wanted to kill the cancer with radio waves heating the particles, her particels on the worthless biography says nothing about how the particles perform the function (at least that I saw)

    I am so sick of people saying this about the municipal benefits of taxes. The government gets PLENTY of money now, they just waste and misallocate and even squander through corruption, a significant portion of it. Let the govt figure out how to do more with the same instead of sucking out more money from the people who earn it through threat of force and jail. I already pay plenty in sales taxes on gas for the roads, plenty in property tax for the schools and police and fire plenty in income tax for other things, not ot mention the bogus taxes paid on my cellphone and cable bills, the taxes that corporations already pay (baring the outliers like GE). They dont need more money they just need to learn to spend it better.

    I personally have found webOS to be the best one. I think webOS has suffered because of poor hardware not because there is anything wrong with the OS. Bought a touchpad during the firesale and really enjoy using it, only complaint is the obvious lack of apps.

    Looking through my firefox, i see they name things extensions or plugins all under the category of addons. In the extensions is my favorite programs like stumble upon and skype and adblockplus , under plugins is quicktime, veetle, flash, silverlight and google talk. So we will still be able to use the extensions but it seems that all the video plugins will be done away with then?

    plan a heist of Russian and former soviet block countries banks and financial institutions. So they realize the real damage caused by letting these people off lightly. IMHO Russia now takes enjoyment out of these hits, since they see it as a way to inflict damage on the west by way of proxy. Need a global effort to eliminate such criminals.

    I travel alot, and wish the ticket prices where cheaper if booked directly from the airlines (american in particular) . But they are NOT they are the same price regardless if booked through travelocity, expedia, aa.com or where have you. If AA was trying to save money or cared about the consumer then their direct website price would be lower by whatever fee it is the travel sites are getting paid. But it is not.

    I bought an OLPC (XO) on an impulse and well I hate the interface that it comes with. What are your guys thoughts on if Android will work on the XO laptop? I use mine primarily as a rugged ebook reader for outdoors and light web browsing.
