  1. Re:more of the same on Microsoft to Clean Up Code · · Score: 0

Just remember M$ Marketing is the best the world has ever known. They could sell ice to an Eskimo. This is just another bullet on their powerpoint foils as they proceed to build the latest-greatest total gotta-have rewrite to extract more of your cash.

  2. Re:Requirements are obscene on Are Programmers Engineers? · · Score: 0

If you think the requirements are bad, you should see the bill for keeping that shingle valid for a year. USD 227 I believe. Seems to be more about collecting tax for the state coffers than about anything useful. With my shingle and $2.75 I too can get a coffee at Starbucks.

Roger that! Take up a collection for Verizon Landline (GTE). It is not good enough they have customers waiting to pay them for ISDN or DSL but they refuse to put it in. I would see a fast connection quicker in Cambodia than in TX.

If its display is not colour, how will the victim er user see the BSOD? As if cell phones don't have enough troubles, now we will have "Sorry, my phone blue screened!"

Those who do not learn from history...

Remember back in the early 90's a brash Novell CEO thought he would kick some M$ backside? Novell bought arguably the world's finest word processor (WordPerfect Corp.) and put together a suite with Quattro Pro and some Paradox for a data base.

M$ sunk WP into near-oblivion and Novell took a blood bath when they sold it to Corel.

While I certainly wish Sun well, I will not be placing any bets on the outcome.

Indeed we have heard thousands of PC's. No doubt a whole department to fix the ones that break each day. Why not thousands of linux instances in an IBM mainframe? Disclaimer: I do NOT work for IBM!

  7. That is not all... on HP Print Server Uses Linux, But Doesn't Support It? · · Score: 1

Agilent / HP / Telegra-D Fax analyzer runs PicoBSD and does not support any client other than windoze. But the client runs nicely in wine ;-)

Roger that. With all those E-10000 boxes they appear to be choked with a little ./ traffic :-(
