Only 30 people are admitted each year--and each of them must hae SAT scores over 1400, and recommandations from their bachelor college. I bet that the people who get into this ArsDigita University could just as well get a full scolarship on one of the other great computer science universities(MIT, CMU, CIT, etc).
What we need is a online university where anyone is accepted, and which gives its courses over the internet. I'm not saying that they should necesarilly get a Master's degree in Computer science by completing the course, but I'm sure a lot of people are interested more in the lectures and curriculum than in the diploma.
The QNX operating system crypt algorithm was cracked a while ago in order to get the root password for the I-opener. This is certainly nothing new. You can grab the program and the source here.
Has anyone gotten Microsoft Flight Simulator(or any of the zone.com games for that matter) to successfully run behind IP Masqurading? And if yes, how? I've been trying to do this but until now, there has been no success.
It seems that none of the game played through zone.com can be used behind IP Masquerading.
Well, if US companies use.com, I have no problem with that because companies in other parts of the world are also free to get.com,.net, and.org domains. Yes, they can get domains with that end in their TLD but they are free to choose.
Also, there are places to buy.com/net/org domains other than in the US, making these domains more internationally available. I agree that it would have been a good idea if every country used co.TLD instead of.com from the beginning, but it's too late. Companies are free to choose--they are not forced into buying.co.TLD.
I also submitted this news a while ago(i think about a month ago), and I know that MIR will also be used to film a new Russian movie. I'm not sure of the name of the movie, since it's been a long time since I saw this information but I'm pretty positive it's a Russian movie.
As Accpiter just said, a stay at the hotel will be pretty exepsive(I remember somewhere around $50,000 or so). I think you will go to MIR as a group of 7 or so, and stay there only 3 or 4 days. It's pretty expensive, but certainly worth it.
If I had a Porsche, I'd sell it just to see the Earth from space:)
What do you see as the future of GNOME and the different window toolkits currently available? Do you think that in the future, Qt and GTK might somehow create a standard which will allow a persistent look throughout all Qt/GTK applications? If not, how about compatible themes--they would provide a common feel which is usually one of the downfalls of Linux.
Also, what do you think about the porting of GNOME to other desktop platforms(Windows, BeOS, etc)? Would you rather concentrate on providing a stable desktop environment or making it more portable.
Hopefully Rob or someone else will update the story to clarify everything. The fiscal year actually starts in a couple of days so we may see Daikatana out pretty soon.
What resolutions do these monitors use? I would assume that the standard 640x480, 800x600, etc. would look stretched since the monitor is more wide than usual. Also, it would be a disadvantage to use a non standard resolution because, most webpages and background images are made for the standard resolutions.
I am thinking that it might an option to run in standard resolution, with two black bars on the left and on the right(kind of like widescreen movies on normal TVs, just horizontal).
Anyway, I think this monitor would be excellent for playing DVDs or playing Quake with a bigger field of vision than usual(since it's wider, there would probably be a smaller distortion).
You forgot adding Justin's, Jon Katz's, emmett's, michael's, and jamie's stories. Rob only said who the top five posters are. If you want to see all the numbers, go to http://www.slashdot.org/hof.shtml
Acutally, in Quake 3 all models are the same(unless you use mods or something). They thought about creating classes such as light, medium, or heavy, but they didn't include it in the game since people would just run around in the light class, and then switch to heavy when they saw an opponent.
You live with your parents?
Has anyone tried clicking on those links? Damn, HTML is so challenging...
Dial-up costs $15/month. I won't pay $50/month for their 128kbps down/up service. Nor will I pay $30, nor $20...
And the point of that would be, what?
It takes me 30-45 minutes to go from West Cupertino to SF... This guy must be driving on El Camino :|
Heck, you can get there in an hour by train.
This isn't art, it's animating drawings.
The article makes quite an interesting read. I enjoyed reading it, and if you want even more information, read this.
Good point, this was officialy stated by AT&T 1 month ago.
Oh yeah, Mr. Taco? I can destroy you with my mind bullets as well!
I am a lawyer myself, and I can tell you that the "-paper" bit is shorthand meaning that the information is not original and is LIKELY to contain bad information© worth

I used to have Meccano toys when i was a kid, and I still thought they were pretty fun.
By the way, it's Lego not Legos.

Well, actually in Quake 3 all models have the same "box" where they can be hit. Just because the model seems smaller, it doesn't mean it is.
Same for the quicker part--they all have the same speed.
Just think of how many people play as "females" in cybersex chats.
