I propose a 50 year moratorium on this technological advancement so that philosophers and theologians can thoroughly debate the ethical and moral implications of this undertaking.

True enough... I haven't used a watch in ~7 years. There is, however, one situation in which a watch is very convenient: Testing.

Admittedly, a watch might distract you a little during a test, but many is the time I have sorely desired the knowledge of whether I had time to erase what I had written, in order to correct a minor mistake.

Other than that, about all a watch does for you is give you a weird white spot on your arm (if you are lucky enough to get outside, that is :-)

hope this helps... of course if you are looking for BSB/Limp Bizkit sort of music, you probably won't be able to find any indy labels who carry their equivalent... Indy labels carry quality music that has not been dumbed down for the masses. ya.. ok, sorry.

Actually the engineers foresaw your little "h4x0r" schemes and completely bypass the creation of a temporary file. If my memory serves correctly, the file is decrypted at run time, immediately before being sent to the output hardware. And to address the argument that those who use napster never buy another cd, /that/ is FUD. I own a Rio500 and use Napster extensively. I, therefore, would certainly be one of the ones who wouldn't buy cds anymore right?

    wrong.

The truth is, although my income has certainly not increased, the rate at which I purchase cds has. This is most certainly due to the fact that I have found so many totally cool indie bands who concern themselves with creating art, rather than making bucks.

Maybe this is what the RIAA is so worried about. They _must_ be aware of how poor quality their signed artists are. Could it be that their real fear is not piracy but, instead, indie labels and bands?

The trick is, with a realistic Newtonian engine, if you let the puck go it'll keep right on going until someone or something stops it.

Am I the only one who is not impressed by this total bullshit? How hard is it to program an object to maintain a constant direction? When someone comes out with a game, based on earth, that can calculate sophisticated trajectories of variable mass objects, according to Newton's laws, I will be impressed. "Convince Steve Case to let America Online's engineers port AOL 5.0 to Linux. A Linux computer with these two pieces of software would be a great home system. " OK, so maybe I do not understand the situation, but my impression was that AOL 5.0 was a user screwer -- certainly not a piece of software that makes a "great home system". Furthermore I believe that when the "average" user plugs in his computer he would prefer assured security over a few added moments of ease. I do not understand how asking Steve Case to commandeer your computer's hard drive or, for that matter, attempting to imitate Microsoft's sloppy unintuitive programs, in any way helps the user in the long run. Granted, Linux can become complicated to newbies, but hasn't anyone heard of... who was it?.. oh yeah! REDHAT????? alright thats it. If this guy expects the linux community to take his suggestions seriously, maybe he should take us seriously and actually use the software he recomends before promoting it just so that he can sound like he's up-to-date on current technology.
