If you don't have it in you to act heroically when needed, then you have no business stealing the money for not doing the job.

To maybe help put things in perspective for you, I have been called on to act heroically. The first time, I failed, dismally. I chickened out. I got a second, and a third, and a fourth chance to act like a hero, each of them years apart. By that time, I had finished "growing a pair", and managed to do what I expected of a real man.

By the time a man is qualified to be a ship's captain, he should have grown his own pair. If you ain't got them by age 40 or 50, you'll never have them.

I spent five years at sea. No captain can be on the bridge all the time. Godlike, though he may seem, even the captain has to shower, shit, and shave. If he doesn't visit the wardroom often enough, the rumbling of his gastro intestinal system can interfere with giving orders. The bastards even SLEEP like real human people.

A captain who spends to much time on the bridge has a morale problem on his hands, because it's obvious to the junior officers that the captain doesn't trust them to do their jobs.

Nope. Won't work. Ever heard of the fire triangle? You can't just throw a match at some cold diesel fuel, and expect it to burn. Especially when it's in an enclosed space. If you got lucky enough to actually get a blaze, the smoke will smother the fire in short order. You need fuel, oxygen, and an ignition source. The fuel you have, the oxygen you don't have, and the ignition source is going to be tough, because oil isn't really very flammable.

Maybe you should look at some dictionaries, to find out what domination is all about. Then, look in some history books. The 1940's would be good, when Japan dominated most all of Asia.

Imagine a world in which the Chinese own everything, and all the white, black, and brown people reside in ghettos, begging their Chinese overlords for scraps of food and clothing. Impossible, you say? Alright, you go on worrying about GGP's complexion.

Why don't we clear up a misconception here? That of "American companies". There aren't very many "American companies" traded on the stock exchanges. Go ahead, try to find some. IBM? Nope - they are a multinational conglomerate. Microsoft? Nope - ditto. I'd have to actually look, before I stick my foot in my mouth about one or another companies, but most of them are multinationals, with absolutely no loyalty to America, or to the American people.

I happen to work for an American company. It is NOT traded on any stock exchange. It is owned by Americans, run by Americans, and all of the people who work here are Americans. More than half are Mexicans, but they are from North America, despite the fact that half (or more) of them are here illegally.

As for losing R&D dominance - what can be expected? America is being raped by the world, predominantly by China, with the full cooperation of these multinational conglomerates. Much of China's so-called R&D is actually a matter of reverse engineering, trying to catch up to American and European tech levels. The rest of their R&D is real R&D of course. Meanwhile, the US just rolls over, to accomodate those who are so busily raping her. We can't be bothered with R&D while we are enjoying a nice, long, and deep rape.

Problem is, software patents are an oxymoron. Software is properly copyrighted, not patented. Until you can understand that point, we'll probably not agree on anything else.

If we ever get past that point, then we'll begin by discussing the concept of a squarish box with rounded corners that don't snag and cut you or your clothing, one face of which is the display, taking up all the room possible on that face. Good grief, there are patents aplenty for real innovation. Patents were never meant to stifle innovation. What did you want Motorola and the rest to do - make a spherical device instead of squarish?

Parks, and private property are off limits. All that is left is the streets, and at Brooklyn Bridge the kids were arrested who were on the streets.
