In my opinion giving the government more taxes is like giving booze to an alcoholic. They can't properly make use of or handle what they currently have. Why give them more incentive to keep doing the same?

The are several reasons why a 78 will sound bad on a modern turntable. First you need a different needle for 78s. Secondly back then the speed at which the record was cut could fluctuate a lot between manufacturers so you need more leeway on adjusting the rotation speed. Third the RIAA equalization curve is different or non existent for 78s so yeah it's going to sound bad. Go on YouTube to hear some properly played 78 records.

Then why does the BluRay spec have audio sampling at 192KHz? Why is "CD" quality fine for music but movies need sampled an order of magnitude deeper?

  7. The laws you speak of work to keep the GPL enforced as well.

  8. Brick, really? You're fucking dumb as well. The computer functions regardless if its running an operating system or not. Bricked means the hardware itself is no long responding to user input. Not booting windows is about as far from bricked as you can get.

  9. You're an idiot. The contents of the disc are copyrighted by Microsoft. Only they are allowed to distribute the contents. It doesn't matter if he charged a penny, financial gain means money was charged regardless of his costs.

  11. This is a text book case of copyright infringement. He wasn't downloading movies and watching them, he was making copies of operating system discs for financial gain. This is the exact reason the laws were written.

Ford sells a ridiculous number of trucks, that is why they are phasing out less popular models. They somehow suckered people into thinking $60k for a truck is a normal price. One model is over $100k when maxed out with options!

  15. This being a tech site and all I figure that people can use the word "bricked" correctly. No windows will not "brick" your computer. Unless you need to pop out the BIOS chip or connect up a JTAG programmer then your computer isn't bricked. Even then a quick firmware rewrite and things are fixed. Call me when one BGA solder joint goes bad and you need to reflow the board, then it's bricked.

  16. I use this instead https://www.voidtools.com/ Windows can take 10 minutes to search a hard drive while that program does as fast as you type.
