I love how McCain says "We will show compassion, and we will show courage" in regards to an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy. Who is "we"? The people who are blocking the poor woman from making a choice in order to deal with something she views as a problem? It must be so easy for them to be courageous in a situation that doesn't affect them. If women are forced to have children they don't want, we'll end up with more and more orphans, and who will pay for them? Surely there aren't enough people to adopt all those unwanted children.

Actually, Harry Potter can be quite complex. If you read into it and think about it analytically, you'll find that there's a ton of symbolism and many different themes and circumstances. A lot of people dismiss it as a kid's book with no deep inner meaning, but that isn't really true.

There is some analysis in the lexicon, but a lot of it is paraphrasing and copying the text. It does make it easy to find specific references and tidbits from the books, but a lot of that is because it's a website with numerous links everywhere.

It's not about the money. Didn't she say that when she does eventually write her encyclopedia that she'll donate the proceeds to charity? She's trying to make a statement that this is her work and it's under her control. It sucks that they had to go through a lawsuit and everything, but ultimately it is her own creation.

With cars certain things like how tight the bolts are screwed on matters. With the plug on the oil pan you don't want to do more than hand-tighten it, but you sure as hell want to do more than that when putting on the wheels. People who don't know things like that are going to have some time trying to put together their own car.

I wonder how many people would actually be willing to donate their face. It's one thing to donate blood or donate an organ when you die, but to donate part of or the entirety of what makes you most visibly recognizable? Even though the donor would be dead, the family might have issues with disfiguring the corpse.

I'd say Bill Clinton led a "colorful" life all the way up through his time in office, and he was still a good leader. In fact, I find it outrageous that his infidelity was a big enough deal to warrant his impeachment, yet Bush and Cheney's lies about the reasons for going to war in Iraq, blatant disregard for the constitution and condonation of torture are unimportant enough to be overlooked. If only the Democrats in Congress weren't such a huge bunch of wimps, we would have taken care of this by now.

At least Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are honest and forthright about their opinions. They wouldn't go to great lengths to avoid conflict the way that Congress has been doing.

"Rather, women with aptitude in these areas often simply have other interests and so pursue their education and careers in other fields like law, education, or biology."

So how about we make special scholarships for women who show aptitude in the hard sciences, but want to pursue a different interests? Essentially, we say we'll give them money to become an engineer even though they've decided they want to be a biologist, just so there will be a higher percentage of female engineers. Is it that big of a problem? Not really. What matters more is that we have skilled people working in these fields, regardless of what their gender is.

If they really want to have more women who are interested in the hard sciences, they should start getting women more interested at a younger age. e.g., send them to space camp instead of cheerleader camp.
