I had not thought much about disney other than mickey mouse until about a year ago.
I had to go to Irvine for a business trip and decided to head to DisneyLand since I had not been there since I was in 4th or 5th grade.
What a shocker. I could not believe how commercialized it was. Rides sponsored by corporations. all of them. Space Mountain by Fedex. Indiana Jones ride by AT&T (i think). WTF.
I would be willing to bet this is another form of intelligence for the gov.
They will be an indicator when something is about to happen. Somebody, somewhere will know something and make money off of it, thus tipping off the goverment.
Very nice development environment. Runs on linux, solaris, windows, and about half a dozen other platforms. Was not ported to unix as an afterthought. Slickedit definitely helps my productivity. I use it on Linux and on Windows.
I am not associated with Microedge, the manufacturer, in any way other than a very satisified customer. http://www.slickedit.com

and I is my favorite. Fast and stable. Need an application for your desktop, cruise on over to the ports collection, type make && make install and a few minutes later you have a new desktop app.
I have not been able to use it for a while though. I develop primarily in java and unfortunately their java support is behind. Hopefully, BSDi will be able to keep it more current in the future.
I think that the Wistler issues (pirate protection, mandatory online registration) will definitely slow the adoption of wistler and make companies and individuals alike start looking at the alternatives. A great, common desktop across most major unixes and linux, and with the new version of MacOSX, well.. Microsoft's days are numbered. I predict Unix/Linux/MacOSX will have atleast 40% of the desktop market by the end of 2003.
Did you see the Macy's Day parade? My company did that (3D-Fly over parade route). There are so many uses for hi-res imagery other than spying on someone. The thing we are finding with hi-res imagery is nobody knows what to do with it. 1m imagery was not good enough for tv, so we used 1/2 meter air-photo imagery.
From some of the other comments, do you know how long it would take to find somebody's girlfriend laying naked in their backyard? Just about forever and a day unless you knew when that person was going to lay naked in the back yard and you had total control over when the satellite was going to make the pass over that particular area( not very likely unless you can change the orbit of the earth). Otherwise it would be sheer luck!
DODS if for Oceanographic Data, but could be easily adapted to Astronomy Data.
In a nutshell, you put a CGI script on your server that maps out your database to standard format (Adapter pattern) and a web or desktop client
can preform queries against everyone who is using DODS on the server.
My favorite Win2k feature that one of my colleagues experienced was the "auto reboot" feature.
Right in the middle of work, his computer with
Win2k professional would reboot itself. It did this a couple of times a week. No rhyme or reason, it would just reboot itself.
I personally think this "feature" was installed so we would not see it crash.
because there are no lips on the floppy drive
Anyone else find it interesting that they posted the documents in pdf format rather than word.

Books on j2ee frameworks would be cool. Apache projects such as Struts/Velocity. Books on JBoss would definitely sell.
How about.. This would definitely sell. Using Struts with Jboss and using Postgres as the backend.
Linux has been at 64-Bits for everybody ;-)

I bet they will have a similar announcement within 3 months.

Just my 2 cents.

Because if it were LGPL'd, I could take the QT lib, port it over to windows and write proprietary software (as long as I relases my QT enhancements)
This ensures TrollTech that companies will come to them for the Windows QT library for proprietary products.

Now, he is comparing all the linux distro's with
just NT or just win2k. That's not fair.
How about compare Windows 98 and NT and win2k and
see how they come out. Bet he could not say
the same thing that time.
His argument contains no facts. it is like saying
"Mikey does not like it, so I don't either"
get a job moron.

him b/c of this.

with only 64 meg ram. Seems like putting a 454 in a Yugo. And windows on top of that...
