Excuse me, but every time I see any sort of hydrogen powered (burning it or using it for some sort of chemical reactions) car, the source of hydrogen starts off with fossil fuels or using other forms of energy to extract hydrogen from water. We should be careful that we're not causing more pollution in one area just to lessen some in another area - maybe having a net increase in greenhouse gases.
We all know the BS about ethanol and how it takes more energy (all oil) to just to grow the corn than you get from burning it and that doesn't even include the distillation and shipping costs!
One could wonder whether the project was set up to adress terrorism OR it was setup to generate media-attention ?
It was both and then some.
I'm trying to find the link of the guy who started this BS. It was a private citizen who, IIRC, was the one who was involved with Choicepoint. He wrote some code and his algorithm pulled up most of the 9/11 hijackers and then some. He had some false positives even then, but it was the Government's wet dream and it solved some of their problems (such as that pesky little Constitutional problem of spying on Americans. It's OK if a private company does it -Choicepoint.) and it makes great security theater and it creates some big fat Governemtn contracts for some big fat cats with Government connections.
Need more caffeine and I'm getting tons of false hits from Google trying to find the cite - it is over 7 years old, ya know.
Yes that's his real name and he basically takes about 3-4 hours just to board a plane. Anyway he this routine that's hysterical! Apparently, he has the exact same name as someone who's suspected of terrorism in the Middle East.
Someone seeing the terrorist's name: "Hey, you're that American Comic!"
Terroists looking very serious and dangerous: "NO! I AM NOT!"
Person: "Yes you are! You're so funny!"
Terroist looking even more pissed: "No! Absolutely not!"
such as *gasp* having Mom stay home and actually raise them
Because, as we all know it is impossible to raise children if one of the parents doesn't stay at home.
Other than that, I'd say your argument is pretty solid. Employers aren't responsible for an employee's children.
Yeah, technically all of you are right. What has been found is that having childcare greatly reduces the stress of workers: they don't have to worry about working late, they can visit their kid on lunch breaks if the daycare is on site, company care is just one trip, it's usually cheaper, etc...
Having company sponsored childcare doesn't mean other employees are getting paid less, is just means the stockholders are not seeing as big of a profit as they could have. If Google really had to pay less because of childcare then they wouldn't be able to get anyone good, especially the childless - they'd all go to higher paying companies, wouldn't they?
As for me, I like in house childcare because you don't get the BS (most of the time) of folks with kids having to run home every time their kid is sick; which makes my life less stressful because then I don't have to make up for them.
From carbon and energy neutral farms. geeze! Stop with this whole analyzing and coming up with glaring holes in the idea! Its' a dream and PR stunt! Let's keep it that way.
Michael seems to have a different definition for the word preppie than the good people at Webster or I do.
You and me both. When I went to high school (early 80s), preppies were the kids who were taking college prep classes - hence "preppie". They were the ones who studied, dressed neatly, participated in sports, band, chorus, etc... and generally got good grades. They were usually from middle class families whose parents understood the value of an education. Everyone in that group wanted to be: doctors, lawyers, engineers, computer specialists, or any other white collar professional career you can think of. Preppies were usually decent kids. Yeah, there were some rich kids who had the nice cars and coasted through life, but they were the rich kids and weren't part of the preppie crowd. They were the ones who got in Ivy League schools because they were legacies or what ever.
It was NOT someone who tried to get away with conning other kids and teachers, doing little work, and just coasting through life.
However, these qualities take much longer to evaluate, because they require extensive fact checking, which a casual reviewer doesn't have the time or the resources to conduct regularly.
So we have designed a review process that helps people quickly and reliably evaluate information quality by looking at how that information was gathered.
Quickly and accurately - wouldn't that be nice if it were true. If the reviewer doesn't have many facts and has to do it fast, then the reviewer's review is completely bogus.
Fahrenheit 451 and Orwell's 1984 should be required reading in our schools. But I don't think the folks who want to hang on to their power would like that.
The British and Australian MPs, on the other hand, appear to be using them as a policy guide. We're not too far behind.
to cause cancer and everything associated with living. As a result, the California legislature has required that signs be posted every where that states, "Living causes cancer. To limit your risk, stop living."
You're fucking hysterical! I just looked at your posting history and it's a blast. It's like if Don Rickles had a really shitty day, too much to drink, and he discovered that he had some incurable disease.
I hope you don't do this in person. Bad things happen when you do.
I've run into people like that, they're the ones who applaud "security theatre" solutions like Vista's UAC, but I wouldn't call them "IT Security Professionals".
Security Theater. Is that anything like Dinner Theater? It sounds fun!
FTA:...which the EFF says he was "persuaded" to do by the FBI.
Interesting. Is there a J. Edgar Hover wannabe there? Or is it just the current climate with this administration.
the trouble with this is, even though Obama would be the President if elected, Biden would be President of the Senate. So if there's a tie breaker for or against something that would further deteriorate our Civil Liberties, I can only assume Biden would vote in favor of less freedom. And if that should some to pass, maybe Obama would veto it. Then again, maybe not. This country is on a path of safety overrides freedom every time. I have lost hope.
Reasonable business operators recognize that you should not be "confident to use" any software without complete understanding of the terms of the relevant licenses.

Are they allowed to just cancel contracts with users in order to extract a higher profit margin from their product?
Apparently, they are.
sounds like a terminator unit when it walks, we ahve a winner.
And the speech ad-on that says, "Fuck you asshull."
Some survivalist type of guy was condemning your average suburbanite for not being able to tell which way North is on a cloudy day.
The answer is not moss on trees.
I couldn't figure it out and I thought the guy was just a nut.

I'm all alone and have no friends - just my cats - I'm here.

Gotta watch it.
It runs on PBS every once in a while Ameican Crossroads.

I have to find my kid. Last time I saw her, she was with her Uncle Micky while he was having his morning martini.
That is perhaps the most assholish thing I've seen on the web in ages. What the hell is wrong with some people?
Are you talking about the maker of this spoof?
It's a fake because:
The guy getting choked is no way an Olympic swimmer -- way too flabby.
The sides of the pool are completely different between the guy getting choked and Phelps.
Phelps and the guy getting splashed are always in different frames.
And if it were real, CNN would have had a "news" clip on it.
Must drink more coffee before looking at web movies.

Yes, you are. I suggest smoking more weed and drinking less beer^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H. It helps.
You're absolutely correct sir!
You see, one of the side effects of weed is paranoia. And I can't think of anything better than increasing paranoia in a security professional.
Weed for IT security folks should be a job requirement - paid for by the company!

I agree totally; hence the need for legal advice.

Riiiiight, nights and weekends. Never on the job.
