I would guess that if the NSA has their own chip fabrication plant then slipping the compromised hardware into someones computer is a done deal with sneak and peek type warrants
What about the high tech pen and paper solution. The teacher reads the roll manually at the beginning of each class. They teacher then marks on the piece of paper who is there. Those unmarked people require a note from parent/guardian otherwise they are a truant. This is just another ridiculous case of putting a high tech solution in place when the system that has been used for over a century works quite adequately. It never ceases to amaze me the ridiculous things people will computerise and then wonder how to debug.
When I went to school at the start of every class the teacher read the roll and each student answered if they were there. Truants invariably got caught. the solution is surprisingly low tech. Who woulda thunk it?
When I was finishing High School the affordable pocket calculator was a new thing(Is TI lust a DSM-IV issue?). If any student had been caught using or even bringing a calculator into a test they would have been expelled or failed immediately. I thinkt technology in the classroom is helps make kids less competent than they would be without it. I'd really like to see a bunch of current HS kids all tested for their abilities in long division and multiplication. I suspect they might struggle a bit more than they should. Some may even try sharpening their pen when it runs out of ink.
The argument that they wont be able to use computers in the real world after they leave school if they aren't exposed to them all day, every day is complete and utter bullshit. The legions of people my age and baby boomers, etc that use computers today whether in the work force or at home should lay that argument to rest.
I will be installing Linux on a notebook in the near future to get the basics on the road. I used Mandriva from its very early versions but haven't used Linux for a few years. What is the 'best' KDE distro at this time? And is wide screen now supported as it wasn't back in the days I used Linux.
I see decades of innovators being sued for questionable patent infringements. I see no true innovation. I see mostly more of the same in smaller and shinier packages at greater profit margins to the manufacturers. I see a stagnant technological future in which the only major innovations come in the form of devices to kill, maim, and infringe the freedoms and actions of the individual/society. At least I will be able to enjoy it all on my iPucker-GE(Green Edition) made from recycled sequestered carbon in the form of a trendy Graphene case.
You should read "On Intelligence" if you're at all interested in that subject. Jeff Hawkins (Palm inventor) proposes a fascinating theory of the inner workings of the brain.
You obviously haven't been reading your Gatto have you?
The metre was redefined in 1983 it is now the distance traversed in vacuum by light in 1/299792458 of a second (17th CGPM )
I would guess that if the NSA has their own chip fabrication plant then slipping the compromised hardware into someones computer is a done deal with sneak and peek type warrants
Then that means it will be the standard term and definition within just a year or so
it the secret hidden within it that you have to be concerned about
I have a bridge i would like to sell you
or is it an abrogation of parental responsibility?

Sorry for the typos in the above comment. It's karmic in a way that I should post about computers and incompetence, then make an illiterate post - LOL

I give not a flying fuck on a rubber buffalo dong if you're offended
Will you marry me?

What if I take it apart and no one is watching
simple solution - start with a live brain and work quickly
This has to bug me more than anything. All these "innovations" being created ... in {ug} JAVA.
Or testing students programming skills using COBOL
My sperm

Wonder if Dave would have had a problem if she was described as a nasty Muslim woman? Maybe he's a Megaphony

Definitely, seconded
You also have to factor in whether or not the biologist hasn't got a point to try and prove to the CS graduate boinking his wife
don't forget the jelly!
everyone is very interested in the next iteration
You keep using that word but I do not think it means what you think it means.
If he says it often enough.... (you know the rest of the story)
Just curious to know why people actually hated Vista
It's because someone with a 4 digit UID said so. And we love our sages
I'll add a million more that you won't take it out of its wrapper
