  1. WiFi and SF on DSL Amidst Phone Wars · · Score: 1

Here here! I'm on dialup, looking at dsl, and a bit flustered to find that it seems cheaper everywhere else. SF "broadband" offerings kinda suck despite the tech industry we have here. IIRC JWZ has volunteered DNA's roof for an antenna. Have you heard of any local efforts beyond SFBWUG (sic) to implement a city-wide wireless network? Imagine SF with repeater antennas every three blocks. Perhaps an ISP could implement "viral" connectivity -- either pay or freeload and repeat (i.e. extend the coverage)?

Buddy, you've misunderstood toupsie. You haven't been "trolled". Chill a bit, as you've gently implied that he's a bigot and then called him an idiot to boot. If you want to second guess assumptions it's best to start at home. Frankly, I doubt "Grandma" needs or wants you to stand up for her -- especially since you seem to believe that understanding grep can distinguish someone from those that are "too stupid to figure something out", and that the rest of the world gravely needs your moral guidance. Would it have killed you to read "Grandma doesn't grep" for what it is: a concise, alliterative, triplet that means many find the command line cryptic and arcane?

Excepting the original Cinema Display, Apple doesn't make LCDs with DVI interfaces. Period. The ones they did make can only be found occasionally on eBay. Pre-GeForce3 DVI cards aren't common at all. Perhaps you mean it's easy to find DVI LCDs for Apple computers. No shit? They're called "PC Compatiable". ADC works with that. If I opened this post by calling someone an "idiot" would it be considered "Informative"? If an emotionally retarded jerk farts on Slashdot does it make a sound?
