    Android has taken the same position in the smartphone market Windows has in the PC market. It even did it the same way.. by being more open than Mac and working with various hardware and software vendors.

    Yes but they inherited a patent covenant with anyone who fully implements the Java spec.

    That said, they could probably try to find some technicality to say Google broke it. Hell, it was probably designed with that built in.

    Only little companies like Google (Android ADK), IBM (Websphere, Cell SDK, etc), Adobe (Flash Builder), Microsoft (Sliverlight tooling), Apache (Apache directory suite), Redhat (JBoss IDE), etc. are building their tools on Eclipse.

    The real companies are busy making their employees post uninformed, moronic posts on Slashdot.
