You have that wrong. Movie companies only make 25% of their income from theaters. Movie companies make more money renting the movie out in terms of DVD's, etc.
Check the stats...
The movie industry now wants to get into the rental business by selling 4 Euro DVD's that only allow you to play the movie once. After that it is garbage. The home market is MUCHO BIGGER for the movie industry.
The movie industry is based on the concept of making new movies and then "renting" them. They have diversified their income that no one thing can hit them too hard.
Movies make money from sales at ticket office, sales to rentals, sales to individuals, sales to hotels, sales to TV stations and movie channels. What do radio stations sell? A CD and some sales to Radio stations (even that is the other way often).
The point is that the music industry screwed up in not figuring out how to make money elsewise.
The movie industry simply were better business people....
Let me give an example about the effect of not taking drugs so seriously. When the cold war was over Albania had a huge problem. They had no money. BUt they had plenty of wine hills with good potential for wine. What did they do? They ripped out the wines and planted pot. This did they well since the profits in pot was much higher that wine.
But then Europe decided not to prosecute against pot. Pot prices fell massively. Albania then had a crop that made them no money at all. Actually wine would make more money, but because they ripped out the wine grapes they were in a double whammy.
The point is that growing pot has become entirely unprofitable. And while many say pot is a stone step to coke, that is because of marketing. Seriously people who take pot are not necessarily going to take coke. What happens is that those that sell pot in the past also sold coke. And it was advantegous to get people on coke because it was more profitable. But if people have pot and can get it from "clean" places they will not step to coke.
And these are FACTS proven in Europe after 20 years of drugs and legalization!
Agreed, but you have to remember the Brazilian tends to be young and the German team is young as well. And also remember that Renaldo has just come off a VERY serious injury. Renaldo had his day in the sun that will be it. It would be his third cup and he would have a secondary role.
All of the players you mentioned from the German team will most likley not be there in the next round. Bierhoff is gone and he hardly played even this time. Yes in the past the German team tended to have older players, but that is in the past.
Today I saw on the news (German news) that they are working on keeping the age of the team low. Hence players like Klose, Neuville, Ballack, Kehle will be preferred. The focus is going to be on getting young talent that can play very well.
The only reason why Germany did not win is because Germany had no goal scorers. And that is what they need to get going for the next round.
Yes I agree regarding the definition that somebody could intentionally leave their hand in the way.
But in the case of the US game the arm was at the side of the player in a usual posture. It was not in a posture to stop the ball like a goal keeper would. It was totally unintentional and therefore the right call.
About not seeing the handball. I doubt that one. Did you see the speed at which the ref ran to block any discussion? He knew darn tooting well what happened and he ran to block off any complaints or arguments. He did not want a fight breaking out because he knew the call would be controversial.
Also the ref was Scottish and I really doubt that he was not paying attention. Most European refs have been pretty good and they have enough experience in the European leagues.
I just want a choice where I take it for maintenance. If I own a car, I should be able to take it anywhere, even if it voids the warranty.
Point taken and accepted. True...

Funny thing I have an American buddy who lives in Ann Arbor and he had to watch the finals on CBC. For those wondering... CBC is Canada and he lives in the US close to the Canadian border (40 clicks).
He used to play college level football and hated the coverage that the American commentators had. They kept talking garbage (sort of like when European commentators comment NHL hockey, IT SUCKS!!!).
I do not think Renaldo will be around next time. And if he is then he will be a second round star player.
The difference with the German team is that most of the players are young. The Germans breaking the mould actually played a young player (go figure) with the tender age of 21. If some of you are saying huh? Germany has been notorious in the past in recruiting "seniors" to play in their team. In the last cup I think Germany either had the oldest or second oldest average age tema. I think only three players will retire (also their star goalie:( Kahn). Klose, Ballack, Neuville etc are all fairly young and they look VERY promising.
Franz Beckenbaur has an axe to grind with the German trainer and German Football team. WHY? I have no idea. But it could be that he thinks he is the German God of football. And because the Kirch Empire who bought the rights to the Football coverage in Germany turned out to be the BIGGEST dud of his life. (Kirch group is bankrupt) He was supposed to be their star analyst. But it turns out that people enjoy watching the free TV stuff and did not buy into Premiere. The point is that Beckenbaur has been trumped in the spotlight and he wants to be back in it at all costs.
But the call was 100% percent correct. The arm did not even move to block or move after the block. It was there unintentionally, hence not a penalty.
While the idea of rear facing seats sounds good, no way will I ever sit in a plane with rear facing seats.
Rear facing seats already exist on trains and I get motion sickness everytime. The rear motion will not be as apparent on a plane, but it still be there.
Actually In-House is not irrelevant. In fact in-house is the largest part of the pie. MS is popular because in-house developers can use their applications to build vertical apps.
But this does raise an interesting issue. I think MS is trying to do a contain the fire type strategy. Consumer is their cash cow and they are protecting it. Because on the server side this certainly would not fly. Can you imagine having to have corporations sign their own apps (NOT!)
If these assessements are correct then LINUX is actually making headways into the desktop. Who would have known!
I would not say that this is appalling. This is called regular service on your vehicle. If you do not realize it, but if your car is not regularly serviced then the warrenty is null and void. Check the fine print. Regular servicing is a good thing to do on your car. Keeps it running well.
There are consumer rights and constitutional rights.
Lets take the example of buying an album. In America it was deemed that a certain age is required. But once you get to that age you can buy no matter what it says on it. However, in other countries if it says the wrong thing you cannot buy it no matter the age. THAT IS A BIG DIFFERENCE.
America is not trampling on your rights, but simply saying you have to be a certain age. This is only natural because law has determined an age of when you have become a full citzen, which is allowed to excercise their rights as a citizen.
About things like DMCA, etc, well again confusing the issue. This is about copyrights and not about constitutional issues.
As a non-American an American programmer (who knows American history, law, constitution, etc) explained to me the differences. In Canada and European countries those differences are smudged to one and the same. Hence why you confused the issues in your posting.
Sure the communists do not talk about getting rid of the pesky foreigner, they talk about other interesting issues. Like getting rid of people like me who believe in Freedom and Capitalism...
And this is where we see political winds in action. The communists may not say foreigners out, but they say other things.
Examples: (http://www.pds-im-bundestag.de/) -Taxation of wealth possessed (Taxation on items already taxed). -Controlling of assests using public means and not private hands -Guarrentteed income of all citizens -Assisted control by the workers of corporations -Taxation of stock trades to avoid speculation
So while yes Haider is an idiot (already defined), the communists talk about breaking all forms of capitalism. And that in my eyes is breaking the back of what we all built.
Now about interdict people on actions already did? Sure, my grandfather was sent to Siberia for five years, by the likes of Geiski because my grandfather believed in capitalism and free enterprise. Or how about that person who was shot two months before the wall fell in Berlin? Why was he shot? Because he believed in Freedom!
My point is that yes punish the right, but do not forget the left! But current politics in Canada and Europe seems to have forgotten that! The American Constitution does not forget!
Sorry, but I totally disagree with you there. In America I can say, what I want and how I want so long as I do not slander. However, (I do hate them) the KKK is allowed to excercise their freedom of speech. While in Canada that could never happen. If you excercise your freedom of speech that is not current to the times then you will be prosecuted.
And this is where the American Constitution differs. The American Constitution ensures that you are not prosecuted according to political whims.
I am not saying it is good to be right wing. But in Canada like Europe a communist can talk all they want. But yet in those countries a right wing utters one word and they are thrown into jail. If you ban the right, ban the left!
(As a Canadian) that section is not the same as the American counterpart.
Specifically, the constitution can be NULL and void as per the following part:
1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.
This basically says there are limits. This was there because without this clause it is not possible to prosecut hate literature folks.
And this is where I have to say that as a European and Canadian citizen the Americans got it right and the rest of the world not.
Freedom of speech is a double edged sword, but by ensuring that everyone has it under all circumstances ensures that we do have a free society.
My example is the EU prosecuting Haider in Austria. The man is a loon much like Buchanen. And Haider has done nothing other than say stupid things, but yet the EU slapped sactions, etc on Austria.
What gets me in this is that while I agree Haider is an idiot the communists in Europe are just as big idiots. So if you ban Haider, ban the communists, fair is fair. And remember that Stalin was just as gruesome as Hitler.
So as a Non-American I have to say that NOBODY has the same rights as an American, POINT BLANK!
On the Canadian 10 is John A MacDonald On the Swiss 10 is LeCorbusier And the Euro 10 is Romanesque
Does any of this make sense to me, but yet what you say makes no sense to me whatsoever!
While I think the argument of tourists can be made one way or the other. I think the counterfiet argument is very valid.
Look closely at a new Swiss note. IT IS BASICALLY counterfeit proof. And the new Euro notes make counterfeiting VERY difficult. But the American notes are much easier to counterfeit.
Now before you say, no we have this marker and that market the reality is that much of this funny money does not actually go through the US. What happens is that people deal this funny money outside of the US and then convert that into a US bank account. That can then be used to spend US dollars anywhere. Why would the US be concerned? Because with so much money outside of the control of the US treasury it can have an amazing destabilizing effect. BTW terrorists, etc deal in US bank accounts usually and when they deal in funny money it is hard to track them.
This is why I think they want to change the money! Not at all for the benefit of the tourists. If I may be an American cynic, when has the US ever done anything to make it easier for tourists? Last I heard the current administration wanted to introduce that all outsiders coming to American was supposed to have fingerprints or something like that in the passport.
Bah. Teach kids to type, and they'll soon be doing 60-70wpm. Plenty fast enough to take notes
Sure if you are taking pyschology. But I graduated as an engineer, which requires math, text and graphics. And all of this has to be annotated. And while it would be nice to get the notes ahead of time, most of my profs actually did things on the fly. This meant sure they knew roughly, but not exactly and work out the problems in the class
..you get about $2000. Plenty of money for an eBook reader and downloadable textbooks.
So while you would not have to lug around the books, you would still have to buy the text books. Because I REALLY doubt they would give them away for free. So now I have both an expensive PDA and electronic textbook
As sad as it sounds nothing has yet to replace my simple small bound block of paper and pen. I do most of my notes and thoughts that way. Easy, Cheap and if there is anything important I scan it in.

And will ADO.NET be the final version? Not a chance. Right now MS has been introducing a new database technology every 1.5 years. So I am guessing at the end of next year there will be yet another database access technology.
Exactly. I did a search for "real estate Alsace" in the database and it found all of the ones that google did.
The only problem was it found many real estate sites within the US, and other places. And these places have absolutely nothing to with the Alsace
What I also love with google is that it will translate my english searches into the appropriate language search. So Real Estate becomes "immoblier", which brings up another ton of results.
It is the little touches that keeps me coming back to google.
I never said luck. I said from the original post that learning is incremental and it is also being at the right place at the right time. Had either Newton been at another place or another time we would be talking about someone else.

No problem how about Money?
And this is where I find it funny that in Switzerland I can buy cheaper DVD's than in the rest of Europe.
