There was an excellent discussion on the possible problems with placing your consiousness into another body attached to the article with the book where it described it (can't find the link at the moment). One of the main questions was whether it will actually be *you* that steps out on the other side, or just a you that *thinks* it's you. Read up on the discussion for a great think-fest
I wonder if is it possible to get permission to republish this article. If we can get this, I think this article would make an *excellent* resource in conjunction with the 2600 Flier. The 2600 flier is a good resource for those who have already heard of the issue, except that it lacks factual information for those who haven't. To non-geeks it just sounds like a "the big bag government is out to get me" rant. If we passed the two of these out in conjunction, or even to those who come back interested in more information, this will give them what they need.
With a few definitions placed at the bottom of the flier for non-technically savvy people, even a person who has never touched a computer before will easily be able to see how this is going to affect things that THEY care about, making them much more likely to take action.
Unfortunatly, I see no contact information at the bottom. I am going to attempt to mail the webmaster of the website, but since it is a rather large website I have no way of knowing if it will get to the right people. If anyone can get me a contact address where I may post the information (a post saying permission is granted will not suffice, I do not wish to have a lawsuit on my hands) that would be greatly appreciated.
Don't let the corporate bastards get you down. Get out, print copies of the flier, stand outside the largest movie theatre in your area with some friends, and pass it out. The only way to make a real difference in this fight is to educate the masses. Never give up.
Shortly after posting my original message, Sensei (the admin of LinuxNewbie.org), letting me know that he was re-working the interface and he gave me all of the URL's to the files I needed.
He was extremely helpful, and it seemed to me that he genuinely cared for the OSS community. I'm definately not ruling them out for later help.
As a linux newbie myself, I have to agree with you. Linuxnewbie.org helped me none.
When I installed RedHat 6.0, my goals were to have it eventually replace Windoze. In order to do that, as a power user, all I need is internet access, and icq. With that in mind, I went to their site. After spending several minutes figuring out how their website interface worked and looking for a place to search for help files, I typed in "ppp". Instead of bringing up a helpful dialog, I get a ton of stuff I don't need, like "NHF's: Intel Based" and "Linux: What is linux?".
After searching for about fifteen minutes, I gave up and instead went to Linux.com's help chat, where I was referred to KClinux.com, where I immediately found how to set up internet in KDE, complete with newbie-useful graphics. Once I completed that, it was time to set up ICQ. I have heard that the ICQ java version is crap, so I decided that I wanted one of their clones. I headed on back to linuxnewbie.org and searched for "ICQ". The search only turns up two things, neither of them even remotely having anything to do with icq. I have yet to find a way to install the rpm and other necessary files for ICQ, so I'm still stuck in windows.
(Offtopic: If someone is willing to help me on this subject, email me at oh00@yahoo.com and I would greatly appreciate it)
I agree with your post fully. Something I would like to add: How can someone discriminate against someone that they cannot actually see?
Katz rambles on and on about how women and any non-white males are discriminated against online. Bullshit. I am a woman. Not only have I never experienced any discrimination in my year of visiting this forum, I've never seen any body discriminate against someone they knew was a woman. Katz, you need to do a little research before posting these articles.. you ramble and miss the point.
This is really sad, guys. ID is one of the few companies who have really embraced open-source gaming, and what he says is going to have an effect on all gamers in the future. If he finds that there is no way around massive cheating other than to keep the source closed, then this will have a major effect on all other gaming companies, and he will follow suit. A few can ruin this for everyone. If you know someone who plays QIII under linux and uses a cheat, plead for them to stop, and have them plead for others to stop. This is one of the first attempts at OSS gaming, and it may well be the last if cheaters don't cut the crap.
Now I'm the first one to say do as you please, espically when it doesn't harm other people... but the link above.. there are bictures of guys holding their own *cut off* balls in their hands, men who have split their penises, cut them off, and modified them in other horrendous ways.
If you want to see how fucked up society *really* is, take a look at that site. It's sad really, that men would willingly castrate themselves, take pictures of it with the blood splattered everywhere, and then post it to a website. Ack.
Unless you are incredibly thick[sic], I can't see how you can say that children are not be tought safe sex, abstinence or health risks. It is shoved down their throat every day. I think we're doing the job. The federal government even runs abstinence commercials. I don't know who you talk to, but nobody I have ever known or can think of would or has ever considered "just give them the morning after pill" a solution.
I can provide a little insight into this situation. I am a 16 year old female Junior in high school. First of all, I can tell you that abstinence and safe sex *are* shoved down our throats. For a semester. After that, not a word on the topic is ever mentioned to us.
Second of all, even if it were, I don't think it would have an impact. In the so-called "popular" cliques, it's very cool to have sex with a *lot* of partners. It is looked down upon for guys to use condoms. It's looked down upon for a guy to remain a virgin. I know of a particular couple, we'll call them Frank and Lindsey. Frank is a senior in high school, a starting football player, and he preached to a lot of people how important it was to keep your virginity for someone that you are truly in love with. He then meets Lindsey. She's not a virgin. Within two weeks, they have slept together, and they have continued to do so many times.
Attemped brainwashing of our youth simply *will not* work. People need to take personal responsibilty and instill morals into children so that they can be trusted to decide that smoking/dealing crack isn't cool and that unprotected sex is neither cool nor wise. Pelting commericals at us won't change a damned thing.
It got me to thinking that life is like a maze. You never really know where you're headed until you've already gone down the wrong path (ooh deep). The cool thing about a maze is that you can always backtrack and try a different way until you finally work your way out.
I do believe a song said it best..
"Yes, there are two paths you can go by, But in the long run There's still time to change the road you're on. And it makes me wonder."
Oh yeah, there's a *clip* of the video at It's a 45kbps network stream, so 28.8 or higher connection (28.8 took about 40 sec to buffer) you should be fine. You'll need real player.
By the way, if you have MTV and happened to miss the video earlier today, TRL is on again at 8pm. I'd tune in at about 9:15 (they played it before the number one song) if you want to catch it.
If you would like to see this video on MTV but don't want to wade through MTV's bloated content, I've greatly simplified their vote page. This is for TRL for Thursday (tommorow). The url is: http://www.madwolf.net/zug/trl.html Let's kick some BSB ass! =P
Every human being deserves the right to live. It's not the children's fault that they were born who they were. Maybe you should have been born a poor, starving, 3rd world child. Mabye you'd have some perspective.
Or at least, with no computer access, we wouldn't have to listen to you ranting about how saving innocent people's lives is stupid.
Sure, Linus did some great things for software. But it's just that, software. Human life is worth more then the best software ever produced will ever be.

'Fraid not. I don't understand the obcession with those, anyway. Maybe you should actually check the comment board before saying that. The main site said there were no comments yet, and the "read more" section said there were 4. 5 now, at least.
The best thing I probably ever did was trying to force RAM into a simm slot by pushing it in vertically (don't ask me what i was thinking). Not only did I break the cheap plastic the holds the ram it, but I shorted out my motherboard as well.
Chances are, they already do. Along with the CIA. Without getting too out of possibility, speculate for a moment. The FCC is being overly paranoid. Anyone who even wants to test it has to get express permission from them. So far, they have granted nobody permission. Could it be because it's one giant huge coverup? Maybe the FCC is afraid the the invention will have the capability to detect the CIA and NSA signals which are watching over us every second... maybe there's a camera hidden in the monitor watching you read this right now.. maybe none of this is really true and I'm just pulling ideas out of my arse. You decide.

Any ideas why this would be happening when it's supposed to work with Winblows?

How strange. INTP's are pretty rare (less than 1% of the population). I'm one also, how many other computer geeks out there are INTP's?
