  1. Netflix's Explanation on Netflix Axes Apple AirPlay Support (cnet.com) · · Score: 0

Netflix is offering more details on its decision to remove AirPlay functionality from its iOS app. The change was announced in an update to a support document on Netflix’s website last week, with the company attributing it to unnamed “technical limitations.”... 2. Not a big deal on Netflix Axes Apple AirPlay Support (cnet.com) · · Score: 0

This isn't a big deal really...All things considered, airplay controls (takes over) your phone so if you stream content to a screen you can't use your phone plus it drains your battery (unless plugged in) just get an appleTV or comparable device and you'll be better off.

  3. Simple Solution: Turn off location services for select apps or all apps. If you have an iPhone, it will alert you when an app has been using your location for an extended time in case you've forgotten that you blindly tapped "accept" on the permission screen. I'm always going into the settings on my phone and checking what's using my location. Some apps ask for "all the time" permission or "only while using" choose wisely or just turn it off.

  4. Just Go Elsewhere on NYC Politician Wants To Ban Cashless Restaurants (eater.com) · · Score: 0

The problem isn't a place going cashless the problem is stores having to bend over backward with all the new "policies of the day". It's not difficult or any more expensive for someone to walk into one of the hundreds of stored that sell pre-paid cards that are re-loadable. If you insist on being able to use cash, just go get one of those, no special device or app required. Load it with the cash you would have given the business and problem is solved. The same thing started happening with stores who stopped accepting checks, times change and processes change. The good thing is, you aren't forced to patronize a business, you can just go to another one that accepts cash...businesses are already penalized enough.

While many conference calls can "go of the rails", they can in fact be a useful tool. Be it an old-fashioned con call or a newer video con call they do allow communication between geographically separated individuals. I am on sometimes 5 or more con calls a day. If run correctly, they are still beneficial. If you have a "moderator" or "host" defined and they play the role it is still a viable means of communication. There are a few calls I have been on where there has been an agenda and a proper host who kept the call on task and we accomplished quite a bit. I have also been on ones that were a waste of time. Until technology figures out a reliable way for tone to be conveyed via e-mail, con/video calls will always have a place in the business world.

Finally! Upgrade time is near... Hopefully this year I don't forget to return the old phone and end up paying for it. I'm excited to see what they have in store for the new phones. I don't pay attention to all the hype put out by the blogs anymore, it's not worth the speculation. Plus it kinda ruins the surprise factor. You can't blame a company for being secretive about things especially when they are accused of not being innovative anymore. All these "Tech Blogs" speculate and fill people's minds with things then if it doesn't happen people get mad.

Prove it! Obviously the current way isn't working, if it were, growing numbers of people wouldn't be looking to change it. The argument of when you were little is invalid. When people make that argument, more often than not, they are referring to times when you could actually work during the summer months and afford to pay for tuition. Those days are long gone, with government guaranteed loans, schools have no reason to keep the prices down because "hey, if you don't pay us we will just ruin your credit then default you and get paid by the government anyways".

My logic is that our government is so corrupted by big oil now that they are more than likely preventing these things from happening in the U.S. Think about it, whenever you hear about a car with super mpg's why does it never happen in the U.S., you never see articles about a U.S. car company coming out with this before another country does. All I hear out of the people saying the iphone is strangling the ATT network is WAAA! As an iphone user, I rarely ever go over around 100-200MB a Month. Tiered pricing will not work because it's kinda like the gas pumps, you're pumping gas and you get distracted and you go a penny or two over the dollar amount you wanted.... Do you think that gas station is going to give you a break and knock those pennies off especially if you pay by card where it is automatic. I for one would be upset if I used .5 over 100MB and they charged me an additional $20 because you know it will be some ridiculous number like $19.99 to make it sound good. The solution is to use some of those mega profits they get and improve infrastructure. What about that nationwide wifi plan that was supposed to happen.... iphones can use wifi, put up wireless access points that only ATT phones can access and that would reduce the amount of traffic.
