It takes the industry far too long to adopt these innovations. My guess is that research being done right now, after it's stalled by the automakers themselves, etc... will take 10 years to find it's way under the hood. This is one reason the computer industry moves so much more quickly than the automotive, there are fewer huge coorporations (like GM or Microsoft) and zero industries (like oil and steel) who have a say in what happens next. Innovations are awarded instead of stifled.
This is great news but Linux has a long way to go in the DTP market. However, since it's postscript support is so good, it will be a great contender to knock macs and WINNT out of the DTP workstation market. I'd like to do layout on a linux box.
Now if they'll just make them I-opener friendly...

Seriously, this seems like a heck of a lot of work to shave boot time, especially cause it will be pointless after we get some decent solid-state drives.

I'm guessing the pic is made of the RGB color gamut, which means the range of colors they can reproduce is only about 1/10th of what you can do on traditional cellulite.
I'm also shocked they can do this in a 4 hour download. When you consider the incredibly high resolution those frames have to be rendered at, (probably 1200-2400 dpi-totally a guess) I would estimate a film like that would be in the range of 7-10 tetrabytes.
Most web services have found in the past that if you try to charge people, or businesses for something that isnt' worth paying for, (or they're not used to paying for) your traffic will dissappear.
Case in point, Salon.com and their old days of subscriber-based content, which went the way of the do-do.
The true definition of Communication defamation is anytime you share information with 3 people or more. Therefore you can libel or defame someone simply by having a converstation with a small group of people.
I'm actually surprised Sega didn't do this first, Since they're trying to be so pioneering on the net. In any case, I'll bet they OS sometime in the next couple months. Of course, I think sega has always been more open with their hardware.

I'm sure there are alot of people out there who are relying in these things, and can't afford to simply exchange them. HP should have offered to refund a portion of the original purchase price. If I bought a car that they told me was 6 cylinder, but turned out to be 4, I'd expect part of my purchase price back, if anything.
Since when does an organization found guilty have ot right to make demands? I know personal rights are protected in this country, but the constitution sure as hell doesn't start "We the coorporations of America, in order to form a more perfect market, do ordain and establish this contract for the United Software Companies of North America."
Is really damn cool. Wish they had had that when I was a wee one.
My question is, if:
Beta testing of ToonTalk began in January 1995 at the Encinal School in Menlo Park, California
why isn't this software in general circulation yet. We studied logo when I was in elementary school, if we would have had this stuff, there'd be more programmers out there today.
Could there be some $ or political issue Linux is ruled "INCOMPATABLE" with these boards? Seems like everyone I've talked to has had zero problems witht that config.
feel about government regulation of the net. As someone with a stake in online campaigning, fundraising, even political merchandising, (those buttons have to bring in a little dough) do you see some of the arguments over net taxation, regulation, and personal privacy having an effect on your niche?
They seem like a very accepting organization. I'll bet if MS had found a way to "sponsor" some of their activities, and become a funding part of their organization, they could have reaped 10 times the good pr.
