While some neo-Nazis are self-radicalized, most are raised that way. That's the point of these shirts. To try to sneak a message through to the kids and get them to reconsider whether they really want to follow in their parents' footsteps. With the adults, it's likely too late -- they're too set in their ways. Kids can still change.
Fuck off you racist piece of shit. There is no such word as "tolerasty" except as invented by European neo-Nazis so that they can pretend to be smart while treating blacks, Jews, gays, Muslims, and virtually everyone else as sub-human vandals in their precious homogenous society. It is a portmanteau of tolerant and pederast, created with the intention of implying that tolerant people condone pedophilia.
What is happening in London has nothing to do with "your colored cousins". I won't even bother arguing why, because frankly, you're a monster of the same sort that murdered all those children in Norway, and as such are impervious to reason. I wish only that you die before you hurt anyone, and that no one follow you down that road of hatred that you're on.
I'm only even responding so that people see you for what you are, and know to distrust your every word.
Did you just refer to the company that thought Bill Gates and Seinfeld would be the perfect pair to sell an already hated OS as knowing "a thing or two about marketing"? I suppose I could agree that they know literally one or two things, but I'm not sure that that'll be helpful to Nokia.
I know what I'm giving up, and I give it up gladly for the services I receive. You may disagree. But who are you to tell the rest of us what we should and shouldn't do?
Why should I care that some companies know my buying habits? I am one of billions. There exist some unfathomably vast spreadsheets with a row that indicates I like oatmeal for breakfast and enjoy the works of Terry Pratchett. Why should that bother me? If anything it means that more stores will stock oatmeal and more quality humorous fantasy books will get made.
They certainly don't have my most intimate thoughts, because those rarely leave my lips and never enter a computer. They may have a few angry letters I wrote, but so what? I'm one of billions. No one's likely to see it, and unless it's something really egregious, no one will ever care.
Frankly, I think you're paranoid. You think that people care about tracking you, personally. Let me assure you, you're not that important. No one cares. That's a good thing. You're one of billions, and well below the notice of multinational corporations. If you're afraid of using facebook, fine, but don't go demanding it be destroyed because of your fear.
The majority of people on facebook are well adjusted, sociable people. Facebook is used to let your friends know what you're up to without having to call them one by one. It's used to share photos, without having to email out links to an online album. It's used to make plans and invite people to parties. Yes, it's also used for stupid shit like Farmville, but even the people who play that generally do other things too. Methinks you're projecting.
Androids do tethering out of the box too. But some carriers charge extra for tethered data. By rooting the phone, you can hide the fact that you're using it as a tether and thereby avoid the extra charges. That's what Verizon is cracking down on.
Desktops are more convenient to use, and so people end up using much more data on them. If all you use the tether for is browsing, then they shouldn't care. But if you're streaming an entire TV season on Netflix and downloading games on Steam, you're going to use up a lot of bandwidth. They want to dissuade people from doing that.
The good way to do it would be with a flat price per GB, with a discount during off-peak hours. But they can make more money with the current tiered service plans, so that's what they'll do until and unless they are forced to stop through either competition (unlikely since other carriers can also make more money with the same tactics) or a law (unlikely since the Republicans are slaves to big business and the Democrats are spineless cowards who'll abandon their "principles" at the first sign of a fight).
Meanwhile, lost in the announcement of D3's ban on offline play was the fact that Blizzard is also banning modded servers. Apparently they don't understand that sometimes people like to adjust the rules to fit their own h tastes.
Hopefully they come to their senses and realize that modders have made some of this generation's best games. Counterstrike, TF2, DOTA, and so on... It's stunningly foolish to turn their backs on all that.
You should care because if Android phones lose the entire US market, they will become much less profitable to make. As a result, companies will either spend less money making them or raise their prices, since engineering costs will now be amortized over a smaller number of sales. Likewise, app developers will shift their focus towards iOS, so that they can reach the US market.
End result, Android phones become more expensive, lose their edge on hardware, and get fewer apps developed for them.
Economies are interconnected. Don't think for one moment that bad things happening in one part of the world won't ripple over and affect you.
First, for those who didn't read TFA, computers play only a small role on a handful of essays. Most of the article is in reference to having a 3rd party grade anonymized tests, rather than leaving it to the professor or TA. During college, I had a job as one of those graders.
We worked for five hours a day in the evening, though we could leave early and get the full pay if we finished all our papers. Most of the tests would be on general topics, but occasionally we'd get tests that required specific knowledge. In those cases, only qualified graders could review them, and we were given cheat sheets to make sure we didn't make factual mistakes. Essays were generally graded on a 1-5 scale (or a 0 if the essay was a blank page or similar). Each essay would be graded by two people, with a third breaking the tie in the event of a disagreement. However, we trained to be extremely consistent in the grading, so disagreements were rare and never more than a one point difference.
A few times a day, we would get fake essays intended to test our grading skills. For example, an essay that was supposed to be a perfect example of a 4 would be given to you with all the rest. If you gave it a 4, you get +1 point. Give it a 3 or 5, you get zero points. Give it a 2 or less, and you lose a point. If you accumulate a lot of points, you get a bonus up to 50% of your pay. If your total score goes too negative, you get fired.
It was a pretty good job, as crappy part-time "work your way through college" jobs go. The best part was whenever we got to grade essays by little kids. They were harder to score accurately -- it's hard to look past the abysmal handwriting and frequent misspellings. But they were frequently adorable and unintentionally hilarious.
I don't hate the people who watch Fox. I hate Fox for poisoning them. Their minds are corrupted by the endless stream of lies that they ingest day in and day out. They're incapable of making rational decisions as a result, because it is impossible to come to a correct conclusion when your premises are lies. This meme that the truth is always in the middle, and that we have to treat every position as equally valid is tremendously harmful to society.
I don't care that Fox is a separate channel from Fox News. It's the same company, and that company happens to be the single largest and most influential source of evil in the modern world. If you think I'd give them a dime, you are sorely mistaken.
If I really want to watch the show, I'll pirate it.
Rationality doesn't matter. The media will conduct a scare campaign to drive up their ratings. Most people, and thus most voters, get their news entirely through the media. They will be kept outraged and afraid, as always, and self-driving cars will be banned.
It's not that hard to make a bench top Faraday cage. Just make a wooden frame, and nail some copper mesh all over it. It won't be as good as the professional ones, but it doesn't need to be.
The problem is that people coming by your booth will now see a kludgy mess of wood and wire, instead of your nice, elegant demo.
It doesn't matter that you're okay with it. The media will jump on it to create a scare, so that they can get more advertising revenue. Their victims will get scared, and demand their congressmen ban self-driving cars. History has shown that politicians who try to rationalize with raving, scared citizens end up having short careers.
There will never be self-driving cars. Not in our lifetimes. Technology allows them, but society doesn't.
While I agree with your conclusion (that Windows is a less safe OS than Linux), your first point is completely illogical. The number of viruses released in a given year can be a function of market share without being a 1:1 function of market share. Criminals will always target the OS with the largest numbers of technically unsavvy users. Why double your efforts to increase your pool of potential victims by only ~10%?
Until a non-Windows OS is installed on a plurality of machines, Windows will be the primary target and have the most hackers going after it. The Pwn2Own contests have shown that Macs are plenty vulnerable when people are willing to put in the effort to go after them.
I'm pretty sure that relations between the US and Great Britain have been worse at certain points in history. If you think really hard, I'm sure that you can come up with a few examples.
You've been brainwashed by professional liars. The United States does not have "lots of petroleum". We do have lots of coal, and we dig it up at a rate of over a billion tons per year. We have lots of natural gas, and we mine it at a rate of tens of trillions of cubic feet per year.
The people you listen to are paid big bucks to keep you outraged and misinformed. Stop listening to them.
It's probably even less toned down than you think. I recall seeing a video of the Aussie version of L4D2 when it came out. Same zombies, same blood, same everything, except: zombies disappeared a few seconds after dying. That was it. There were less corpses lying around. And it wasn't even that there weren't any corpses -- some are part of the level. But enemies that you killed didn't leave corpses.
Also, I think they removed the SWAT team zombies because they didn't want players to fight against authority figures, even zombified ones.
The rules are utterly ridiculous and make even American standards of decency look sane.
Feigned ignorance is pretty pathetic. My grandpa knows what Bing is. Doesn't mean he uses it, but he knows it's there. It's used by about 11% of people... roughly double the installed base of OS X. Are you going to pretend you don't know what a Mac is next? And don't even get me started on comparisons to Linux. Hell, I'd wager that the majority of people honestly don't know what Linux is.
It does indeed speak volumes that you believed it. It also speaks volumes that you still seem to. But it doesn't say what you think (that IE users must be stupid). What it says is that people always tend to think that they're smarter than average. It also says that people will accept without question any evidence that makes them feel superior. And it says people will continue to insist on their superiority even after that "evidence" has been debunked.
While some neo-Nazis are self-radicalized, most are raised that way. That's the point of these shirts. To try to sneak a message through to the kids and get them to reconsider whether they really want to follow in their parents' footsteps. Maybe Tom? I hear all his friends have been leaving him.
Did you seriously just compare paper to buggy whips?

Watch it, and understand the elements of psychology that game designers use to get you addicted and keep you that way.
Jonathon Blow on Gamification
It's long, but it's worth it.

...nature wins?
Oh come on. What about the Nintendo Powerglove? Or the Sega Activator? There are plenty of amazingly bad controller designs out there.
