I've been setting up an auction website myself, and the easy way around this is simply limiting the allowed HTML, much the same way slashdot posts do:).... Letting them use , etc, is usually not a problem, but letting go by?
Really f***ing ignorant, ebay:). What I can't understand is that eBay even strips the quotation marks. Ah, well.... -Rahga yet another perl + CGI + html guy
Really, there's one reason all this is going on. Red Hat bashing is officially "in" It's a fad, folks. The longer you lose Linux, the less distro wars are entertaining. Distro's are really meant to do one task: Get a user set up with "Linux"(or get technical and say Linux kernel, GNU tools, yabba dabba do). It's the user's task to take the system to the next level, the level that is right for them. Calling Red Hat the root of all evil does one good thing. It keeps the kids (yes, they are doing most of the yelling) of the streets and at the keyboards flaming:)
" (FUD about computer suppliers dying...) The person we have to blame for this is one of Intel's founders, Gordon Moore. "
" Moore postulated a 'law' back in 1965 stating that transistor counts would double roughly every 18 months, bringing an exponential rise to computing power in relatively short periods of time. "
And he is to blame for what, now? God forbid I ever state a law that will ruin an entire industry:)
Every day that passes is another day I wish more that most of the computer-geared mass media would just go away....

The thing that bugs me most about this is that they are essentially locking out much of the driving force behind open source, the college student:) and joe linux developer. $600 is too much for me. I never have enough time to make it to Austin for their lug meetings, either. I just wish that they'd drop that price tag:)

I think I'll be filtering out a certain gasbag from now on. It's not that Katz doesn't have interesting points. Its just that experince tells me reading his stuff is uasually not really about the community, but about **him**. No thanks. There's a difference between one man having a closed mind and another man talking trash. Jon, here's a tissue. Cry about it to everyone else from now on:P.
Linux is all about having the freedom of choice. Not just a choice other than that Redmond OS, but the choice among thousands of different programs, the freedom to make your own hit parade of software, and the freedom to install whatever the heck you want to! If you think "Linux" installed too many different programs, you better look at the documentation about the package management software and see who **REALLY** was responsible for all those toys.;) Freedom is the American Way! We want our choices! Go to freshmeat and download whatever programs you want! Go to slashdot and read any article you feel like! Take a look at the gazillions of nifty backgrounds at propaganda.themes.org (good job, bowie!), too many to chose from! That's the way I want it, no shackles! Wanna cry about how complicated it all is? Have a tissue and grow some balls already, son! Wanna be tied down to moronic simplicty *AND* superb powers? Go to microsoft.com and sell them your free soul. Me, I'll take Linux and it's challenges any day.....

Funny. At times, I could say the same thing. At least this wan't another dang ad.
Let's all send a little bit of money to the FSF (hey, we all know RMS wont spend it on himself;) ), and start a lawsuit against theos software, representing Mr. de Raadt, saying that Theos software could unjustly represent mr de Raadt and his website. We will give them a chance, offering $35 to help them get a new domain name:).... Why should corporations think that they deserve prefeered treatment when it comes to domain names... I can't wait for NSI to butt out of this stuff, ICANN probably wont give in to this load of bull:)
(I promise to stop posting in this article soon, but it's a doozy)
Personally, I think if the user is a REGISTERED user, a score of 1 should not be knocked down to 0. 0 is reserved for AC's and for comments that deserve that type of moderation. If a comment from a registered user is okay, just leave it at 1....
Correct me if you think I'm an idiot. But that's the way it's been working, no need to change.
I keep seeing the number -10. If anybody posted a comment that went lower than -10 (5 people giving it -- or 10 -'s), I seriously wouldn't worry about it. And if there is a lower limit to the nagative scores, I doubt Rob programmed it in yet:)
If people paid $29 to become a moderator, that doesn't prove anything except that you aren't afraid to throw around money. I'd personally rather go through controlled peer review than get moderated by someone who just paid to get in......
Might take a while..... At this point, only 4 million domain names, got room for 100 times that many if there was one domain per IP. But of course, that's not the case....
I loved them too. But greedy companies and druggie teens always go for the latest thing, and I'm sick of 3d shooters (none are really that much better than Wolfenstien 3d) and "You are there" myst-quality games. It's been far too long since Sierra and Lucasarts and so on have released any good old, fictional and entertaining computer games. I miss Monkey Island, Sam and Max hit the road, and so on..... Since "Full Throttle" (can you say cool, but where's the rest of the game?), nothing's been the same..... oh, well..... It'd be cool to try something new for Linux.. but too many people would read the source to cheat, and too many would be involved in development:)
