What I love.. is when someone comes in and says, "What's the cheapest thing you have" and then comes back complaining about the lack of support. Duh.. They had to cut cost somewhere. If it's not in the hardware, it's in support.
Let me just say that I love slackware. It's the first Distro I used, and my last. Not to say I'm an old-school hardcore Linux-God, I've been using it for about 2 years now as a server.
Don't even run X.. just console with various servers running. Stable as a mofo, and easy to update and maintain. I wouldn't dream of using anything else.. With my needs, Slackware is perfect!
Here's hoping they keep it alive... =/

Bad example.. Not even in the same time period, you can't compare like that. Technology advances much faster now than it did back then.
WHen you make a device that encodes MP3, you have to pay a royalty.
OGG is royalty-free. This can be very valuable to companies that ship millions of units. Last I checked, the fee was somewhere around $5 per license. One million units, 5 million dollars. Tell me, what major company would be looking to gain 5 mil?
If you visit the Link mentioned above to http://www.openswf.com, I noticed they have a contest going similar to HTML and Perl contests in the past.
Design the best flash presentation within 25 lines of code. Looking forward to the results!
I really like the feature. Is Google planning on implementing the code at all?
Heh, I thought so. Gave me a chuckle anyway.
Read the comment just above yours, where the author states, "The virus author send copies of his code to all major Anti-Virus companies".
I work at a computer store.

Yes, but what if the aliens already found the cure for cancer?
Maybe we can trade secrets with them over a couple Marlboros and a beer.

No, I'm not pro-microsoft. I'm anti-stupidity.
Yep, you can see a working version, written by Sam Phillips here: http://ogg.2y.net/default.txt
Yep, same here. I have a Qualcomm 2100. WOuld've gotten a Nokia but you can't with sprint PCS. Oh well.
Who says you can't share ogg files with your friends?
What are they gonna do.. Beat you over the head with a brick because you didn't use MP3?
It's in beta, no?
Surely they will have something to provide once finished.

My last name is OGG.
If this format blows up like MP3 did, no one will EVER be able to find me on the web. =)
Is it really fair that I have to pay a lawyer at least a grand to defend me in this 5 minute case?
Argument 1: Linux costs not only more because of the frequent updates which require new cdrom's to be bought.
Ok, I'l stop right there, because obviously YOU DON'T KNOW DICK.
Fucking Troll
It comes down to.. The people that know how to use their computers gt fucked over by those who don't.
I'm running a webserver, and I just checked my logs...
OUCH! 200 hits from code red today alone. The earliest hit I saw was on July 19th.
MSNBC's headline is: "The Truth about Infertility".
If this interests you, you're obviously not someone who enjoys reading "news for nerds" anyway.
Have fun reading that article, it sounds _fascinating_.
They have. Windows ME and Windows XP both have the ability to read .ZIP files and makes them readable like directories.
I still install either Winzip or Winrar though. The way windows handles the files is shit.
Yes there would be. People need to smarten up, and stop opening email attachments like a bunch of idiots.
I'm serious, man. Every time I hear someone say they fell for it, I want to beat them over the head.
This isn't flamebait, it's truth and understanding. I would've mod'd this interesting, myself.
Ahh, Only if I hadn't used all those mod points on the Xena story... Sigh.
This sad thing is...
If these units were standard equiptment, this WOULD happen. A LOT.
Stupid, Stupid people. . .
Sorry, I don't trust anyone with a link to the XCam2.
Mod this shit up, just for nostalgia's sake. :)
Yes, I remember this. I also remember my father (I was 10 or so at the time) constantly fixing our drives because of mis-aligned heads.
Good post.
