Another thing. If you were an alien considering making contact with the so called superior organism would you take kindly to them crashing things into your planet or bringing remote control cars in your lawn? ... no of course not.

If nasa wants to keep good PR with mars they need to negotiate a landing zone and coordinate a way for the lander to enter into the martian atomosphere. This crashing business will just cause the martians to have ill feelings towards humans and we just can't have that.

Now lets look at the victims here. I think it's the modem users. Those poor people have to rely on getting maybe two or three songs a day. I'm sure that's REALLY hurting the poor music industry. Funny they don't whine when you hear their music on the radio, but wait that means we have to listen to all those annoying ads that are horrible. Do I really care about how to get a used car when I'm in the mood to jam to metallica... nooo

So where's my RadIo from philips? :-) ... TiVo made it possible to watch prerecorded televisions shows without being able to view the commercials. And funny ... I bet FOX didn't loose any money because of it. People who like music don't want to waste gobs of harddrive space in order to hear a song over and over and over and over again. It's the kids who hear a song on the radio with all thos annoying ads that make napster flourish.

So who's the victim? Not that it really matters, but it's not the music industry. No matter how much the RIAA loses NEGATIVE dollars or how many extremely horrible teeny popper bands go into the pages of "Have beens" the music industry will still make money because people want to listen to the CD and not some CD-R thing with sharpie marker over the top of it.

So some advice. hey Music Industry and RIAA ... shut up get back into your expensive cars and your expensive suits and leave the computer world alone because the "digital vandal age" is what got you that nice car and new suit. I'll sit here in my t-shirt with a collection of CD's.

There's the practical uses. Now let's look at the quantum theory. Remember the "Time travel theory". Recently reading the book Timeline by Michael Crichton I was introduced more indepth into the thereom itself. It deals wiuth the fact that time doesn't exist, but an infinite number of realities or instances exist. Thus not making timetravel possible, but dimension jumps possible. Thus making reality no longer defined, but confused.

So now what do we consider. Who's hands this technology will get into. This would be the ultimate code breaker along with the ultimate weapon. Not to mention in the 2 years it would take it to get there the technology would already be so much greater there'd be some idiot on TV wondering why they used such old technology.

Here's where we get the funding. First off we make the mission GPL. Then we take all the command protocols and run them from Linux. We'll use a whole bunch of Alphas and just stack them together and then we'll get RedHat to be a sponsor for it. So now we've got Compaq and RedHat as sponsors. Now let's get AT&T to provide the communications for it. Hmmm then we need to televise it. And who better to televise something that is "out of this world" than Fox networks. Then of course we could have people pay $10K to have their name engraved on the side in extremely small letters. So now we have the whole Linux community behind it. Simpsons fans behind it. Long distance callers behind it. Simple computer users. And rich people with way too much money. And what's best ... NASA. Then of course we'd have to make sure NASA promised not to intentionally crash it so we could see how big of a cloud it would make. (though we all know the scientists had a poll going).

Maybe even be able to sync DNS entries faster. But the cost of this alone would be huge. And what happens when a squirrel decides to knaw a lil hole in the fiber? You just lost a heap of bandwidth right there. Fiber is great, but it's also fragile. You need to insulate and pad it quite a bit to make it worthwhile. I do hope if you're looking to scrap one of the O/S's that you choose BSDi because of the main fact most everyone can agree ... we love FreeBSD more.

The one thing I like about your company and your site is that you sell the CD's, but you also offer ISO's to anyone who wants to download the CD's themselves.
