Something very similar recently happened to my Inspiron 8000. Two years after buying the thing, the connections between the audio jacks and the mobo were loose. I called tech support, was still under warranty, and they offered to fix everything else that was wrong also, which included little stupid things like a chip in the bezel, and a dvd drive that took an extra second to rev up.
My point being, you've only had this for 6 months.. two years later, and the Dell person was practically begging me to come up with more things for her to fix, gave me a free LCD bezel, as well as sent someone to install it for me, all covered under warranty. Have you tried having them replace it for free?
I take exception to the "nobody else comes close" part.
J. River's Media Center has been doing everything iTunes offers for years, and with much more of the versatility that/. readers seem to crave than iTunes will ever give you.
Yet if you're really attached to the look of iTunes, someone made a dupe.
Have you checked to see whether your hardware was actually supported under Mandrake?
You see, that was precisely his point. He did not have to check whether his monitor was supported under Windows. If it was not supported, Win would submit a stream that would be able to be shown on any monitor, from a new 44" plasma to a 12-incher from the early 90s.
No, if your university adopted this same policy, it would only mean that you could not use your @yourdomain.com addresses with their smtp servers. If you want to use @yourdomain email addresses, you would have to use @yourdomain's smtp servers. I don't see why it is their responsibility to relay mail that isn't also hosted by them. If you want ot use a secondary mail account, you should provide a secondary smtp server.

Personally, I switch between IE6 and Opera6 for different sites, often for the reasons you cited (the gestures are amazing).
However, if Microsoft offered the same type of dictionary feature, they would be accused of favoring one of their partners.
Granted, Microsoft would probably bundle in a dictionary they own, but still.. great feature.

Danny Elfman wrote the theme song, but Alf Clausen does all the muusic during the episode, the 5 second clips that start and end each scene.
