Don't know if this was a serious comment or not, but Napster won't do Win98 either. (don't know about the others). Check the system requirements at their site. Napster does look like they offer some features that iTMS doesn't do that I think are worthwhile, but then not only do they not do Win98, but they ONLY do Win2k/XP, no Mac. iTMS at least will do these as well as Mac.
Ok, so they are not exactly parasites, ad sales are where I guess most of the money comes from. But IMNSHO, ads themselves are killing ad-supported TV. It has gotten so bad that you can't hardly watch for more that 10 minutes without there being another ad. They make a 90 minute movie into a 180 minute movie. Even when it is something I like, after watching for so long, I just get fed up and turn the damn thing off before the show or movie is over. In other words, there are so many ads that it is not worth trying to watch anything. IMNSHO of course.
AND THEY ***SOLD*** IT LATER FOR A PROFIT !!! Jesus, how long is this going to perpetuate ? They dropped $150 mill worth of non-voting shares. It was a token gesture, not a substantial monetary "investment" in the Apple company. There are people that still think "Microsoft owns part of Apple" like they are staked at 30% or something./RANT
Granted it seems significant that such a headline is even available to be read, but really, what can we expect here besides the headline? I have absolutely complete faith that Microsoft will wriggle out of this one, too, and whatever they eventually have to pay out, if any at all, will be so watered down and lame as to be laughable. It's like throwing stones at a tank. You make a lot of noise, and feel like you are doing something, but in the end, the tank will still roll on as before. I have every belief that they will either win on appeal, leverage some technicality, drag the thing out forever, (already 4 years on this one), so it is no longer relevant, and/or whatever so-called penalty or remedy is determined at the end of it will be more like a pat on the back that even a slap on the wrist. And in the mean time, it is busine$$ as usual for The Great Satan of Redmond. So to me, this is interesting, but not much news. Call me when they ACTUALLY get nailed on something -- with big nails that they can't wriggle out of -- and then it will be news. After the DOJ caved when the administration changed, and then the antitrust chief bailed right after the so-called 'settlement', I am too jaded to even care much anymore.
I am getting the 4th to last byte, which is 00101110, that is-- there are 3 more bytes that follow it, (which make the "ORG" part), as x2E, which makes the thing out to be : "Slashdot-ORG", and I would think you would want a dot ".", i.e. 2F, instead of a dash "-", so the byte should be 00101111, right????
The news here is not so much that MS might be held accountable for their product, they won't be, and for about a gazillion reasons. The news is that someone actually decided there was some benefit in even bringing up such a hopeless suit. Maybe they are trying to shake down MS ? Dunno. But the news for me is that someone would even bother to bring this suit on in the first place, considering the defendant in it.

I saw this at a collection bureau office where we were installing some dumb terminals. They had a sign that said, : Kinda made me wonder about the attitude there....

Is there a mistake in the binary one?
