H.R. 5005, the homeland security act passed with overwhelming bi-partisan support in the house with only 9 opposing. It wasn't like other bills, say healthcare reform where they literally had to scrape the barell and buy every vote they could to pass it.
people in portland oregon, the states controlling majority, (ive lived here 36 years) are cooky and believe in socialism and in swallowing all available funds to payroll state workers and build light rail projects for one city. The state is being swallowed by debt and businesses are leaving in truckloads. bicyclists have automatic right of way regardless of what laws they break, police are fired for doing their jobs of protecting people, and our child molesting mayor is a national embarasment.
the freedom loving part of this state doesnt count.
Speech is protected so long as it does not violate anyone elses constitutional rights, which is how hate speech got slipped in there. Personally i don't find inflammatory speech to violate anyone's rights because i was raised under the sticks and stones principle. Ive never been a supporter that software being traded illegally is freedom of speech, but neither is it terrorism. Its a civil mater.
I don't much care for the tea party, but anyone who calls anyone a tea bagger just completely loses any respect as someone capable of rational and coherent political discussion and debate. Good show.
Here in portland oregon there is a coalition of crazy lefties who want police who shoot people in the line of duty to be fired with no due process. so no, you have to be an actual dangerous criminal to get sympathy from the left. Fortunately Wyden is actually reasonably centrist on many subjects.
i live in his district, voted against him because he was the last vote needed for health care reform, and knowing this would piss constituents off immediately turned around and asked for an exemption from the individual mandate for the state. he isnt wacky crazy far left, and we could do worse. I would have preferred that Jim Huffman won because he is a Constitutional scholar at Lewis and Clark university but sadly Oregon is far too liberal for that.
wrong, as long as the symbol is clearly not being used towards the revival of said political organization, its fine. it can be used for the making of movies etc. since 2007 the Bundesgerichtshof ruled that you can even display the symbol crossed out.
Everyone must fight for rights. Rights given are never appreciated. Look at 80% of the American voting population for my case. If they want freedom, let them fight for it.
I don't understand your statement. Are you postulating that there is an ignorant caste? Or that caste systems cause ignorance? Or that Ignorance causes caste systems?
That is another myth. only 20% of our imports are from china, per the CIA fact book. They are the largest exporters to us, but these falsehoods that china owns us and we buy everything from china seriously need to stop.
But who is going to pay for those bombers and those soldiers when they go to war with the U.S. in your fantasy world? America is about 20% of the Chinese economy. A country just can't lose 20% of its economy and pay for tanks and bombers. I would be a lot more scared of them building a few thousand cargo ships and suddenly showing up on our shore with a few million troops armed with rusty can lids than I am about stealth bombers.
Now, excusing the obvious fact that you don't seem to know the difference between unsecured U.S. Treasury Bonds (debt sold to others) and Secured Debt (a house mortgage etc), 75% of our debt is held in America, 25% by foreign countries. China owns about 20.8% (of that 25%) of all foreign held U.S. Debt. Japan also holds a little over 20%. So you could just say China owns 5% of our debt.
Even if we completely forfeited on china's Bonds, they can't simply come over and take California from us (which is too bad). They don't OWN anything but a promise with no security. Its like you borrowing $5 from your daddy and you tell him you will pay it back next week, put that debt on paper and give it to him and its a bond. There are legal ramifications, fees, fines, etc that the debt holder may be eligible for in international court, but they don't in fact own jack shit.
Nobody ever gets rich by "with hard work" that's just a dumb statement. You become financially successful by "working smart", making good investments, making your money work for you. Most self made "successful" people didn't get where they are by luck. And conversely most people who do get rich with luck rarely stay rich, because they don't understand the concepts of maintaining and growing wealth like people who got there without luck.
The system works fine, the problem is there is a disconnect in reality in the mind of the voter. For the last few decades we have been telling the voter that its okay to expect the government to take care of you. Its okay to be unemployed, we will pay you to sit on your butt. Its okay to have 10 kids and not work, we will pay for each of them and give you free food and medical. its okay to let criminally insane people walk the street because we should just understand that they are sick when they are beating our brains out. Let the government fix it. Let the government fix it.
50 years ago if Katrina had happened the people of New Orleans would have banded together and rebuilt that place better than ever 2 days after the storm. Now they sit in filth for years and wait for the government to fix it.
These same people have been told that they need to vote certain ways to keep their entitlements going. And you, sir, are frustrated that our perfectly working system is being subverted by people who are addicted to government spending, and have been very successfully educated on how to keep that entitlement coming. Vote for the person (D or R but more stereotypically the D) who sponsors this entitlement.
It works fine, its the voter who is fucked up. But its okay, the government will soon fix that too i'm sure.
Actually, your only partly right, yes there are lobbyists who are paid to present cases to...well...the lobby...Corporations cannot pay a politician, they can contribute a very very small amount to an individual politician (like $5k) in his campaign fund, or they can donate to Political Action Committees who separately campaign for someone they like, but are not in any way supposed to be affiliated with the candidate. The type of payola you refer to is strictly illegal and is generally fairly easily exposed whenever it happens by the opposing political party.
The committee passed it, not the senate, it simply passed in committee which allows it to be brought to the floor of the senate for discussion, where most bills flounder in the mud before dying a quite death. While disturbing, i would expect this from a committee that is led by hardliner lib democrats and a number of liberal republicans.
It made it through Committee. Lets pretend for a fucking moment that everyone watched schoolhouse rock and understand how the Senate works and realize that once a bill goes through committee, it gets to go to the senate floor, where the whole senate votes on it, then it goes to conference committee and THEN it goes to the president to sign.
Really? Maybe that would be why I told him to use his default. In case you hadn't noticed, he was bragging about his depth of knowledge in languages a few posts ago, or can't we trouble you to keep up with the fucking thread?
I'll say it. Perhaps taking a go in your native language would be more useful, because you your English is fucktard bad. I still can't seem to grab whatever it was you were trying to say in your reply, except that somehow you are pissed off and trolling against Microsoft because they are Microsoft. You most likely hump goats.
Thank you.
Not to mention flinging feces at conservatives is always good for a mod +1

just remember all this crap happened under obama by an obama appointed head of DHS,
just remember in your conservative hate, holder was appointed by obama.
frak off.

Actually all federal employees all the way down to lowly people at the window in the social security office take the oath when hired.
The committee is mostly hardliner liberal democrats with a few liberal republicans for variety. its hardly surprising.
