if you want to compare anecdotal evidence, my sony reader crapped out 3 times. twice not covered under warranty when they were having issues with their screen cracking if you looked at them wrong (literally watched my first one crack while i was reading it in bed one night). and they changed the support from their proprietary format to epub which required that i send the device to them (yes, they paid for this) waiting a month to get it back so they could flash the firmware. Apparently not wanting to trust people with doing this themselves. since the process was only to have taken "two weeks" it only took 2 separate calls to service and an escalation for someone to tell me "oh we did get it, its still being processed". now mind you, two people couldnt even tell me where my reader was or that it had been received!

I've always been interested why (x) apologist never takes (y) seriously unless (y) serves to prove their point, regardless of how irrelevant it is.
In this case Linux apologist who (yes i make a broad generalization) most likely hates Microsoft and Bill Gates, takes a memo from 9 years ago as definitive proofs of their point now. Never mind that in those 9 years people have gotten their alternative to Microsoft that they were seeking (OSX in 2002) thus making an unfriendly (but not completely useless) OS fairly commercially irrelevant in any form other than extremely closed platform netbooks (Brows web, click here, read email click here, customize? Huh?) or platforms that use linux as a base for something new (Android), but linux as a desktop OS as it sits today seems to be a bit of a toy for geeks.

Beyond the standard bullshit i disagree with on your post, you bring up something that annoys me in just about all internet conversation...
In order to not be racist when talking about members of another race, everyone seems to feel that its necessary to inform everyone that they have a stash of hip black friends standing behind them patting them on the back for being so PC.
I'm not racist, but don't think i've had a black friend for years. And I don't feel a loss. It wasn't a conscious decision, it just worked out that way, and i don't feel the need to run out and befriend a bunch of people because my social life is melatonin challenged.

This seems a lot like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I mean, Christ, i can run large apps on a server through citrix with my blackberry, or a netbook, or i guess an iPad, but if all you are saying is an iPad is as good as a dumb terminal, then there are indeed cheaper ways to go. Lets call a spade a spade and just fricken admit that an iPad is a toy, an expensive and very versatile toy and get over ourselves already.

The Forbes Global 2000 has them ranked at 113 (behind many many American companies) with about 4.86 billion in profits and a total market value of 79.54 billion. Even Microsoft is only ranked 49th with 3 times the profits and market value.
Really? People trying to grab things from the air? I don't know if that is a testament to the 3D or the stupidity of the average theater goer in your area.
Physical media sales will die out in a few years once the content providers figure out which on-demand service they can lock down and make squeal. Then they can charge you a few bucks every time you want to watch it instead of selling you a disc you can watch an unlimited amount of times. BD is an antique before its even fully accepted/adopted.
Well if Fox News is the most popular "news" station on cable TV, I am sure they are paying all those people to watch. I mean, it would be outrageously silly to assume that they have a gigantic audience because people really don't like being called "racists" and a "mob" by their news organizations simply because they are sick and tired of the government growing (regardless of what party is in control, yes I hated Bush also, and voted accordingly).
And as far as racism is concerned, I don't believe its being racist to disagree with my president. I don't believe its racist to think that its a double standard to allow all-black schools. I believe that "social justice" is another term for racism against "non-minorities". I truly believe in the content of character over the color of skin. And that means not treating black people better OR worse than white people. Nobody deserves special treatment. If you want something WORK for it!
You assume too much about me. I don't recall saying anything about my watching tastes. Incidentally an argument saying one channel is X doesn't mean that 5 channels and hundreds of newspapers being Y isn't a huge slant.
But since we are in the business of assuming now a days, why don't you assume I am a Fox News junkie and a racist, and I'll assume you want to destroy my country, own a mac and drive a BMW while chastising people for being rich?
When someone kills 2800 people one day because they hate our culture, i consider that at the very least an act of war. We had been at war for several years, we just werent participating directly or seriously.
Btw, at no one point were US oil interests a consideration. Iraq has ALWAYS had control of who oil is sold to. The Russians are the major benefactor of Iraqi oil.
If you want to go back to running the country only by the tenets outlined in the constitution, lets do it, otherwise the 230 years of amendments and legal precedent are kinda in the way of your argument being worth more than a tip of the hat.
Hells, why not, after all, the President even went on the news talking about how he will be executed when he is found guilty. This is why the military is better at this kind of justice, why put your sham trials on prim time for the whole world to view?
