    the undue amount of focus now on standardized tests. Teaching to the test, as it where.

    remember, test makers make test designed to test things kids don't know, not what kids have learned. When the teaching focus becomes teaching the test, we have difficult.

    Grades should be based on participation, and how 'far' a student move forward in the subject.

    A kids trying hes damndest and getting a B is better then a kid getting an easy A.

    It's about learning to think critically and rationally.
    I would rather someone think critically with a 80 IQ, then spout dogma and have 150 IQ.

    If they aren't wrong, then they would have evidence. There is no scientific debate about whether or not it's true.

    I'm not sure where you are getting your science information, but I'm pretty sure it's from no where.

    What a few people in the ID world have done is conflate several issues:
    Origins and Evolution.
    Evolution and speciation.
    God v. Science.

    They have spread the idea that understanding evolution is the same as not believing in God.
    This is false. Evolution is a fact.

    Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it retarded.

    It's always updated, you're download is in small pieces. Some GPS updates will take a GIg of downloads, and the auto ones can hit at anytime.

    My kids go to public school, they learn a lot, but then I raised kids to enjoy learning.
    No 'criminals', or fighting. Good administration.

    FYI: as a whole private schools are worse then public schools at educating.

    I went to public school. I learned 2 languages, math through calculus, how to rebuild an engine, program computers, bake a cake, and play an instrument, and a boat load of science.

    Over time? actual data suggest yes.
    Immeiatly? that depends on a lot. Mostly the assumption that there is a large group of people with a desire to do harm that's only been thwarted by the fact their victim's have a firearm. Something I've never seen to be true.

    In a society where everyone is armed, just means those who want to do violence will shoot you in the back.
    But people think its' magic, and are under the delusion they could out draw someone who has already been prepared to do violence.

    No. You do NOT get to have this discussion without citations. The topic too hot for you to talk about something you have seen somewhere, maybe.
    I can't find any study that supports that position. I could have missed it, that is certainly true. But I did look. I'm a freak in that I want good data and the argument to be based on good data. Every piece of 'evidences' from hard core gun advocates I have shot down with simple CDC and FBI data.

    Every 3 days a child dies from an unintentional shooting. What about their rights?
