When you live in a dormitory owned by the company, and you are forced to work for days at a time, and be woken up in the middle of your sleep to be told to get back on the line, then what rights do you have, exactly?
The speed and efficiency of human slavery is breathtaking, indeed.
I saw not one reason they couldn't be building these things in America, besides corporate greed, and a mindset that views humans as livestock.
When you're up to 340 tabs, it's time for some bookmarks. There is no chance in hell you regularly use 340 tabs. If you do, you are the.0001%, and it's time to start coding your own browser because you have needs that no one else does.
I was in NYC about 2 months after 9/11, and I got a laugh out of the soldiers they had stationed in the subway. All of them looked like they were ready for jungle warfare.
In those systems they just flag all out of state vehicles and ticket them by airplane. Most people can't afford to drive back across the country to appear in court for an afternoon over a speeding ticket.
It depends on who is operating, and controlling the drones. We have this thing called a constitution, and it states that the military isn't supposed to be used as a police force. Of course, we're in the process of arming our police forces exactly like a military unit, so that line is becoming blurred.
It allows them to claim to be rugged individualists that don't rely on anyone or anything, as they cash the checks they get just for living there. Alaska takes in more money from the federal government than any other state.
Fair enough, it was actually an honest question. A lot of times I see people making claims like that, but then turn around and say they wouldn't live there. At least you are consistent.
Given that atomic scientists can't seem to agree on when it becomes dangerous, can you really call a non-expert an "idiot" for not knowing more than the experts?
This makes sense. Once Ubuntu took over the desktop, it was only natural to move in to the living room. It's not like they've slipped to the #2 spot for distro users or anything; or that their own Unity desktop is still full of bugs.
I guess it all comes down to what kind of site people want/. to be.
Honestly if it's just some place that trolls can reign free, it isn't very appealing. If we were debating something with merit here, I'd agree with you, but the topic at hand here isn't rocket science. Take a read through the posts in this thread and tell me this a "community" you want to be a part of.
Slashdot is a privately owned website. They can set any rules they wish regarding speech. Banning a few assholes from a website, because they're behaving like assholes is not going to have consequences for the 1st amendment.
I guess enough white nerds have a man-crush on this poser, that it's news.
Yes. A corporation has more money/speech than a person, so therefore, it is un-American to question or criticize them.
Yeah except for the part where he wasn't arrested, or detained...

"And guess what, it was after Obama was elected that Apple moved to China, why?"
I'll take a guess. You're full of shit, and Apple has been making products in China for much longer than Obama has been president.

I somehow doubt that the open-source movement is the only place you feel excluded from.

This entire article is a case study in propaganda.
California pays out more than they take in...

Yeah because they evacuated the area. You forgot that little fun-fact.
Fuck off.

LOL Well played, sir!
Well TFA says that the radiation levels are higher inside the building than outside of it.

One thing I've found that is common among bigots and assholes. They hate being discriminated against. Sometimes I love irony.
