I went to wikipedia today and was disappointed when I saw that I could still access the page. I asked a few colleagues and they all got the SOPA page. It took me a while to notice that I had wikipedia blocked by no-script.
They still don't know how I have access to wikipedia... at least wikipedia left itself up for the geeks.
it is 9" but he HP Touchpad doesn't have to be rooted. Simply enter developer mode ( just type webos20090606) and you've got root access. If not for poor decision making by execs and poor advertising more people would understand just how much you can do with WebOS and the touchpad.
That's funny, I've shot THOUSANDS of rounds out of my guns, never once have they been pointed at another living thing, nor do I plan on EVER pointing them at another living things. I'm shooting real bullets out of these guns, not rubber pellets. If you honestly think that there is no other purpose of having a gun than for killing, you are sadly mistaken.
From your own words, be a man, and stop letting the anti-gun people influence you. Look at countries that have outlawed personal guns, they've got higher overall crime rates, hmm.... interesting.
But I take only a very small percentage of firearms circulating the USA will ever be used for killing deer.
That's funny, I never knew that deer were the only animals that were hunted.
On that point, far fewer guns will ever be pointed at another human, let alone fired at that person, and even less so hitting that person, with an even smaller number of those killing another human. (Yay for never-ending sentences)
So to your point, guns can only be used to kill, be it deer, or humans (from reading your post, that's the only other way a firearm can be used) and no other reason.
The law was written in a different era, you are correct on that bit, however it is one reason we are who we are, and will continue to be that way. We've got guns, for sport, for hunting, and for defense.
That requires someone reading the article/letter, and then deciding that they wish to put it into the paper. It is not something where a user just submits an article/letter and it automatically is printed in the daily paper.
That is funny, you're basically saying that I haven't read the Bible. The funny thing is, 90% of the people who "believe in evolution" (/.ers are included in this) have never actually read anything about the arguments against or for evolution, aside from what they were told in their 6th grade science class. (I'm not saying that is how slashdot is, because I'll get 20 people trying to say they are someone special, and are a professional blah blah blah.) I've never seen a place that is more egotistical than slashdot. The sad thing is, I could actually give good reasoning behind what I accept or believe, but It wouldn't matter. This is slashdot and there is no way anyone on slashdot could be wrong, unless they think that science isn't perfect, or they like Microsoft. Those are two things that are always wrong, because right now, as humans, because of science, we OBVIOUSLY know EVERYTHING that is possibly known. Right? I mean, Every time someone says something that isn't pro what we know now "science" they get modded down and someone trolling them gets modded 5 for insightful.
Now I'll have 4 people reply to me saying my math is wrong, 2 telling me I misspelled something, and another 6 telling me I've done something grammatically incorrect.
Will people PLEASE quit linking stupid "contradictions" like this?
If you're going to post the "contradictions" maybe you should post the other side of the "contradictions" so people can see both sides of this. Answer
Of course, this is slashdot, and anything pro religion is wrong, anything anti-religion is right.
Or maybe people don't need to have access to everything. Did you ever think that SOME restraint is good? Did you ever happen to think that a 12 year old kid might not need to see someone beheaded, or see some midget having sex with a donkey?
We are talking about KIDS here, not adults. We are also talking about Government OWNED hardware.
Most the time I'm against these types of filters, but schools/kids is one times I am not.
I understand where you are coming from. The thing is, you use the example of text books. If the text books contained illegal content, that, somehow was blocked during school hours, but was not after hours, would you say the same thing?
Does the laptop have illegal content on it? Well... not while they are in school, right?
When they get home, if there is no filter, what is to stop them from accessing that illegal content?
I am in no way saying that this would happen, or that the text books would contain that content. Nor does this match my previous post. I am just replying to your post, with a valid argument.
Just because I didn't register until lately, does not mean I haven't been on slashdot. I've been reading slashdot for years, I just recently registered though.
Not everyone on slashdot cares to post comments.
I can read the news all I want without ever being registered.
As for the math, I clearly said in my comment that the math was wrong.
I'd say that 95% of the athiests on slashdot (which seems to be a lot) have never researched the matter, more than looking on the internet for "proof" of there not being a God.
of the 5% who have, 95% of those have probably never looked any farther than 1 book, that tries to disprove God in some sense.
Of the 5% who have, 95% of those haven't researched the other side of the story.
That leaves umm... maybe 20 people who have actually studied enough to make a rational decision.
Now I know that my math is off, but the point is, before you try and say that there is not God, try actually knowing what you're talking about.
I personally like the new commercials (here comes all the flaming)
They're good. They're not bashing, and they're actually entertaining ("I have a beard" made me laugh)
From their point of view they have 'evidence' of their beliefs (mostly based on feelings or circular/incomplete reasoning) and can make up even more stuff to discount the rest.

Network guy here - I've got a WebOS tablet... If Ubuntu becomes available, it will be all Ubuntu
You do know you can run ubuntu in window on the touchpad right? works pretty well too.
You can also get terminal on the touchpad (real terminal). All inside WebOS.
HP is still honoring the warranties and is still supporting the software. They only ended hardware, not software.

Gotta love April 1st... all the wonderful "news" stories that get posted, just wonderful.

There are a few nice tower defense games in the indie games. I don't remember their names, but they are fun and definitely worth $1.
That requires someone reading the article/letter, and then deciding that they wish to put it into the paper. It is not something where a user just submits an article/letter and it automatically is printed in the daily paper.
The difference is, Newspapers hire people to write the articles, review the articles, and print the papers.
Google videos are user submitted.
If you're really worried about security, don't run with admin rights,
This is a stupid thing to say, and you are stupid for having said it. Lots of software still requires that you be administrator.
and then everything you said was thrown out the window like it was never there.
if you didn't wait 10+ years, you wouldn't want the game... right? Just like fallout3
Unfortunately, when you posted the "I love April." comment, you lost that achievement.
That means you get the "I almost got an achievement, but screwed up when I hit Submit."

If the school is SUPPLYING the laptop, then they should be allowed to filter it. If you don't like the filtering, DON'T USE THE LAPTOP.

oooh so you're one of those cyborgs? and Woz is too? but TBH I'm not a piece of technology. Thanks though.
>Scary, isn't it? Only in as much as some Christians apparantly believe this sort of rubbish.
I just love how no matter what the subject is, it somehow leads back to Christianity. Amazing isn't it.

WAIT are you talking about Atheists?
